I love found family where they all hate each other or at least get on each other's nerves constantly. It's so much more realistic to me than found family that always get along and act civil

Demisexual Derek who always struggled to understand romantic love, until the infinite knowledge let him know Avery.

He's never really gotten what romantic love is meant to feel like. He hears people describe these feelings of longing and passion, the butterflies in their stomach, the way they're enraptured by this person---and it's never really clicked for him. Every love song, every grand confession, must just be a way of exaggerating things for the drama of a romantic story, right? A part of him feels like all the people around him have to be exaggerating. Because, the concept of feeling those things for anyone seems so foreign to him.

Then, he gets infinite knowledge. And the knowledge itself doesn't necessarily help him connect to the idea of romance---the knowledge let's him know things factually about what romance feels like, but it doesn't let him know what it would be like to actually experience romantic love.

But, then he learns about Avery through his infinite knowledge.

And he finally gets it.

Every cheesy love song finally makes sense. Every piece of flowery poetry he's ever read rings true.

Now, he knows what it's like to long for someone's presence next to yours. He knows what it's like to want to be the reason somebody smiles. He knows what it's like to appreciate someone for every strength and weakness. He knows what people mean when they say that the person they love "brightens up their world".

He finally gets what it feels like to fall in love with someone.
