It’s been a month since I moved! Here are 4 things that I’ve learned and wanted to share with you guys: 1st: DO NOT rush to buy everything! This is really important and you’ll find yourself broke if you do rush into buying things like furniture and décor. The basics like a bed and simple storage are really all that I needed for my first month. Slowly, I started to invest in furniture pieces that were absolutely necessary like kitchen seats, else I would still find myself eating on my carpet. 2nd: Use Craigslist! There are A LOT and I mean that with all my heart, A LOT of free things on that site. People are looking to give them away because they don’t have time to sell it, they are relocating to a different state and don’t have room to haul old furniture, or they just need to get rid of items fast. You can find everything on there, from TV to couch SETS, (yes entire sets), office furniture, storage fixtures, printers, and pretty much anything you can imagine. The downside: it’s a dog eat dog world out there. CL is usually first come, first serve, so if you are not quick enough to secure the free deals, another person may get to it first. 3rd: Hold off on the house warming Yes you have a new place and you want everybody to see it. You don’t want them seeing it empty, so you rush to buy all your furniture (major don’t) and you put pressure on yourself to cultivate your dream apartment, even though you’ve only been living there for 2 minutes (have a seat). Hold off on the housewarming. There really is no rush and you will actually avoid a lot of stress. Housewarming require food, booze, entertainment, planning, etc. Honestly why stress yourself with all of that when you’re still settling into a new place and figuring out what your new monthly expenses amount to? 4th: Wait for the sales A new place is expensive. Not just rent or mortgage payments, but the actual setup. Instead of paying full price for items, try to wait for the sales. Trust me, there is ALWAYS a sale happening. Right now, I do not own a TV. It’s so easy to just go to Walmart or Best-Buy to pick up one but I know I can get a cheaper price, so I am waiting. The bigg
