Yyargnor’s gala is being held in a neighbouring building, which ends up being the equivalent of ten city blocks over. Keith watches in fascination as the train the team boards travels high above the noxious gas clouds at Yyargnor’s surface. He sits with Allura, Hunk, and Pidge, and though he keeps an eye out for Lance, figures the red paladin must have boarded another carriage, cause he’s nowhere to be found.
Keith recognises survivors of Bob’s dimension all around them; there are a handful of Yyargnorians he met at a press conference, another who came in person to thank them, and Ingram and Netta from the village where they inspected the launch site.
Keith doesn’t really want to talk to anyone—he’s preoccupied with the image of Lance, distressed and exhausted—but from across the carriage, Netta’s gaze routinely catches his, indicating she’s got something to say. It makes Keith uneasy. She makes him uneasy. He knows it’s wrong to think, but something about her consistent stare and her firmly sealed lips sets him on edge.
But Netta does not approach him to talk on the train ride over, and once they reach their destination, there’s no time to dwell on what she might have said. The gala itself is flashy and big. Diplomats from all over this star system are in attendance, and Yyargnor, already a flashy society, has pulled all the stops.
