Hi hello. I totally stopped using tumblr during 2016 but I still want to post my year in dot points somewhere where its totally acceptable to have long lengthy wordy posts. And my blog seems like the best place still.
Here we go.
I did grown up things I needed to do before moving to Newcastle, NSW.
Socked up as many sunsets over the ocean as I could.
Made the best doggo friends with Aidan’s dog and step-dog.
Drove down to the bottom of Western Australia with Abi, Aidan, Heidi, and Rachel, where we adventured around Mount Barker, Albany, and Denmark.
Slept in a Mongolian Yurt in Mount Barker.
Ascended Bluff Knoll, Stirling Ranges.
Took part in my very first collaborative photoshoot with people I’d never met before.
Started buying and falling in love with old film cameras.
MOVED INTERSTATE/TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE COUNTRY
MOVED IN WITH MY HUMAN BEAN; MAXWELL. <3
Adventured around with Maxwell whilst he was off of uni.
Applied for jobs and got offered two (only took one)
Did a heap of drawing and arty farty stuff whilst waiting for job offers to go somewhere.
Started working as a kitchenhand at Foghorn Brewhouse. Its a real nice place to work.
Tropfest on Valentines Day.
Bought a bike, took it all the way from Sydney to Newcastle via public transport. God that was a bad time.
Began working for Hunterhunter, photographing houses, cafes, restaurants, shops, and other exciting things in the Hunter region,
Photographed Birds of Tokyo, Dustin Tebbut, Milk! Records, The Cat Empire, The Pierce Brothers, Ben Lee, Groovin’ The Moo, Sarah Blasko, Jack Colwell, Matt Corby, Vera Blue,
Started rock climbing! (so much love for it now)
Entered photographs into 2 art exhbitions in Newcastle,
Caught up with my cousin I hadn’t seen in 10+ years.
MY SISTER HAD A BABY. I BECAME AN AUNTY.
Volunteered at an awesome art gallery.
Bought my very own car. Again. Second car I’ve bought on my own now.
Camping in Watagans State Forest.
Had breakfast with some wallabies.
GOT A TATTOO OF FLOWERS THAT I DREW.
Explored and fell in love with Stockon Sand Dunes.
Got to go through the process of being approved to rent a place for the first time. Moving was fun. And in the rain. Hahah.
Visited Perth home for the first time. Met my niece for the first time. Got emotional when I had to leave my fam again.
Adventured north of Perth, WA a little with Aidan. Went to Cervantes and nearby places.
Filmed my very first wedding! Started organising and booking wedding videography jobs!
WENT TO MOUNT ARAPILES FOR A CLIMBING TRIP. 13 HOUR DRIVE TO A MOUNTAIN OF THOUSANDS OF TRAD CLIMB ROUTES. God it was amazing. Ah. Can’t wait to go again.
Drove 2 and a half hours with a new friend for photo adventures in canola fields.
Learned to love myself more.
Learned to be more confident as myself.
Was more comfortable socialising.
Was more comfortable being in front of someone else’s camera.
Went to the Bogey Hole in Newcastle whilst it was closed off to the public.
Took part in a RAW Artist Showcase in my city, WAsn’t the best but it was an okay night,
Explored Sydney and Manly with a wonderful friend from America who was on exchange for the second half of the year.
Took part in my very first vegan potluck.
Started doing and practicing slacklining!
Sorted a passport, and booked flights for my very first international trip! Austria, Portugal, and Spain, with my pal Aidan.
Started working with my very first proper client! A beautiful clothing brand for mums and kids to be cute and matching in the dorkiest way.
Had my details passed on from this first client to 3 other clients! Yay collaborating and freelance work!
Started photographing for Urban Walkabout.
Started photographing for a guy from Rio Tinto.
Spent a few days before Christmas climbing in the Blue Mountains.
Spent Christmas with Maxwell and his family.
Spent New Years Eve with Maxwell’s family seeing Aladdin the Musical in Sydney. It was beautiful.
New Years Eve was a chill evening at home with old friends who very recently moved from 3 hours away from us, to 4 minutes away from us.
