I was a liitle younger yesterday,

I might be a little wiser tomorrow

I can be so many things

But today I am just me 

and maybe,that’s enough for now

perrault had an interest in literature

To say that -

would be the understatement of the century-seventeen

He convinced Louis - the fourteen 

(who was great indeed)

To name 39 fountains after 39 fables 

Perrault preached

His catholic teachings

Perrault believed

in the inherent goodness of human beings

Perrault was an optimistic individual

and saw good in every situation possible 

-such was his nature

and such was his disposition

that he did not think it apt 

to talk of a dance to death

or to speak of mauling ,murder or mutilation

 one must speak prudently within the palace ,

one must uphold propriety at the palace.

The heroine and her never ending sweetness 

and her prince who is ofcourse charming

and their inevitable happy ending

is all that is to be discussed 

nothing more,nothing less  

while Grimm indulged in dyphemism

Perraut engaged in euphemism

 A little editing here -a little editing there

and the married king is a young prince

the act of rape- a sweet kiss of love 

and there’s no infidelity involved 

                                          (whatsoever )

Not a nihilist                                                                                                             a true theist

when confronted with a tale - dark and dreary

He seemed to become hard of hearing

Stories,he said should call for cheering

He upheld eunoia

Narratives,he said should bring euphoria.

 this is my attempt at writing a (somewhat) biographical poem for charles perrault and to address the whole ancient and modern literature  conflict going within the seventeen century

That girl from delhi ...

“so where are you from ?“

“.........”

what ? you’re from delhi ? why would you come to  Bhubaneswar of all places?” 

*sighs*

I have been on receiving end of this question and the incredulous stare that accompanies it  many times. Way too many times . 

But as much as it annoys me ,i cannot blame my fellow peers for their inquisitiveness . It does come as a surprise for someone from Delhi ,the capital of the country -bustling with both people and opportunities to come to  Bhubaneswar - a quiet city in the east .

Why did I indeed come to Bhubaneswar?

I had wished to be far away from home with two things in my mind : one ,a new city would bring about a fresh start in my life . Two, I wanted to prove that I could live well on my own . 

So far I am just proving how incompetent I am and how I should not be left alone by myself at any cost .

In the duration of one period , I have managed to break both my cellphone and my coffee mug, somehow manage to get black spots on my white t-shirt. I always promise myself that from tomorrow onward, I would attend all of those classes, including that one economics class at 8′o clock in the morning -a resolution, I can’t stick to longer than a day ( R.I.P attendance ). I study in erratic fits ,I have library books that i was supposed to return a month ago and i have more clothes in my laundry bag than in my wardrobe .

But I want to live well and I am trying so that’s something ,right ?
