/i’ve been working on a perfume for the past few weeks,, on sunday i’ll narrow down the prototype accords and bases,, excited but impatient. i realized that some of my favorite things are intangible sensory mediums,, things that can never be perfectly described without the experience. even with the experience it differs per person. music and fragrance are the only things i can think of that are like this. people who know these worlds have a special way of describing things because even though the process is partly tangible the end experience isn’t. you can build a muscle trying to describe something you can’t see or touch. there is no word for a chord that sounds like regret at 3am,, there is no word for a chemical floral mixture that feels expensive but empty. i can point at a 2 people in love,, i can’t point at warmth in a melody. people in these worlds have a synthetic language of cross sensory shortcuts.
