Dropbox - Logo Animation System from Gunner on Vimeo.
Dropbox approached us to animate their growing family of product logos, as well as define an animation system for all logos to follow. Their ask was that each animation be unique to the product’s function, but as a whole feel familial within Dropbox’s ecosystem.

City Zero from Bryan Coleman on Vimeo.
Slowly drifting from below, city lights rhythmically pulse through atmospheric changes and universal natural forces. Subtle and silky movements at extreme distances camouflage the pace and emotion of a city. Looking down, thousands of people are unknowingly working together to create a painting that encompasses the globe. What began as a study of city lights from above turned in to a closer inspection on the creation of light structures from within. My short film starts microscopically on an abstract formation of light from a pulse; a beginning. Strands of light move frenetically in organized and organic patterns replicating humans natural tendency towards city structure.

Elastic – Global All Hands Opener from Ordinary Folk on Vimeo.
It’s a hard task to capture the heart and soul of a company in under a minute, but when Elastic reached out asking us to help kick off their Global All Hands meeting the right way, we *banded* together with some of our favourite people and made it happen. Bringing together designers, animators, and voices from all around the world, we had an amazing time working together to bring this project to life.

A word, a week • 36 • Brothers from Animography on Vimeo.
Jurriaan and Merijn are visual artists from the same nest. They both work independently but also team up from time to time. And when they do, the outcome is always amazing. The bond they share as brothers is something that can’t be substituted by anything else. Speaking the same language on such a deep level, is a powerful force in their collaborative work. The Lovelo typeface seems a perfect fit for this piece, as there is much symbolism to be found in the 2 strokes forming the glyphs.
‘A word, a week.’ is an ongoing collaboration to see our animated typefaces in the hands artists we admire. A typeface is never a thing on its own. It’s always meant to be part of something bigger. Each week of 2021 we release a new animation by a new artist. It features a single word, set in an animated typeface from our collection. The artist comes up with the word and gets complete creative freedom. We get to see our type in action, and share the inspiring work with you.

POEM from WOW inc. on Vimeo.
About the Work After seeing the Jomon pottery with my own eyes, I could imagine—from the unique protrusions and patterns—the scenery, natural phenomenon, the appearance and movement of living things, the sounds, and their textures. The design that contains various fragments of information felt like a poem by the Jomon people. While they do not depict the living beings that the Jomon people consumed to survive, the artifacts conveyed their prayer and awe for the living beings that imbued them with life and I believe it is that energy that gave birth to the grotesque yet beautiful shape of Jomon pottery. This work was designed and created based on this image.

‘A word, a week.’ is an ongoing collaboration with Animography, a web shop and type foundry that provides animated typefaces.
Each week a different artist or studio creates an animation featuring a single word of their choice, using an animated typeface from their collection. Asked to participate, I choose the word ‘PERSPECTIVE’ and built on the idea that though things appear certain from one point of view, they may appear completely different from another. Hopefully, reminding us to keep an open mind and always consider other possibilities. The idea was elevated further by John Poon’s glorious sound design.
Special thanks (again) to Zack Lovatt, Nol Honig and Paul Slemmer for the constant expression help.
