every year on july fourth david has to go on a stage infront of millions of people and talk about the most traumatic experience in his life, and if you don’t think he avoids that celebration like it’s the actual plague, boy do i have news for you.

Disbelief is plain on Owen’s face, both at the concept, and the fact that the other man didn’t know the name of small dogs. Granted, you retain a lot of information when you study animal behavior but he knew their names before that.

“Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Yorkie…Any of those ring a bell?” His hand is outstretched as if the names were in his palm. “If there weren’t, you know, such controversy over their very existence and the whole idea of whether or not they should even exist being called into question, it might not be a bad idea.”  

                                names are on the top of his tongue, different ideas, too many options flicker across his mind. “pomeranian.” he snaps when word is said, as if catching it between his fingers before it can leave him. “smaller ones could have uh... been more useful for research.” he offers. “more containable.” david himself didn’t mind the idea of dinosaurs, some part of him reminded of what it was like to be a kid. what little kid wouldn’t want to see a dinosaur ? “that’s the thing with human intervention, it’s... sloppy at best.” that’s what his father had said about the whole thing. jurassic park it was all flashy signs, look how advanced we are, look how brilliant ! “no uh... no offense.”

                    something i’ll touch more on later : david spent a lot of his childhood by himself or with his parents ( his dad. ) he was extremely smart, and preferred books to people. he excelled in school which was one of those things a lot of kids just ? didn’t like ? but it ended up with him gaining a full ride to uni. but as he grew up he honestly ? never wanted to be someone special. he was perfectly content with just being what he considered a normal guy, with some bullshit job. so that’s what he did, he settled into a house, he got married and got a job he was over qualified for, because it was the simple white picket fence life he wanted, and yeah it was boring but it was good, and it was his, and part of it was he never wanted to be more, but another part was he didn’t believe he could, or that he was worthy of some form of greatness. 

                    but then the invasion happens, and he honestly only goes to save connie, and is kinda ? thrown into this series of events that continuously threw him into this big important role. and he helps save the world, and every moment since then he was continuously thrown into an important role, where he’s a public figure who has to show up every independence day and smile and wave at thousands of people, and he honestly just hates it ?

                              “i’ll be honest, i’m just surprised they never decided to try out mini-dinosaurs as pets.” david himself found the idea of people walking tiny dinosaurs on dog leashes to be... an interesting idea to say the least. “they could make a fortune.” amusement drips from his tone now. “women holding them in those purses like uh...” he can’t remember what they’re called, the fluffy ones that look like furballs with legs. “-  - those little dogs.”
