ROLLER DERBY AU

Kageyama starts as a jammer. He's great at elbowing through the pack for the most part, but people hate him so a lot of times when they skate against rival teams he's targeted more heavily and it's harder to score.

Hinata is a PIVOT. Once he joins the team, everyone laughs. He's so fucking small, how is he supposed to be a decent blocker? There's no way Kageyama would pass his helmet cover to this shrimp, he's probably so light blockers would toss him entirely off the track with the slightest bump. No way he can score.

Joke's on them-- Hinata is fucking FAST and he's real, real steady on his skates. His center of gravity is low and his balance is no joke, and when he clasps hands with Kageyama and gets flung out in front of the pack, he fucking DISAPPEARS. He goes so fast blockers lose track of him, and while they're searching, he's passing the helmet cover back to Kageyama and Kageyama is scoring before they even know he's the jammer again.

With those two, the Karasuno Rollers are invincible.

more thoughts about HQ x Soccer AU (bc i have so many hehe):

- trying to think of how to translate vb positions over to soccer/where they would fit best

for ex: idk if daichi or asahi should be the goalkeeper bc i love thinking about forward/striker asahi and defender/centerback daichi like can you imagine??? ahhhh so i might just draw them as both lol (spoilers hehe)

- ANOTHER BIG THING IS TEAM FORMATIONS BASED ON VB TEAM PLAYING STYLES

i have consulted my sister and freshened my memory up abt diff ones and ive come to a few decisions for karasuno, and maybe seijoh and nekoma

- controversial but setters automatically translate as midfielders to me? which would be to kenmas extreme displeasure lmao

- most current concern: 6 players on the vb court turns in to 11 players on soccer field (i was relieved that karasuno had exactly 11 players lmao, idk what im gonna do for the other teams tho)
