Please allow me a moment of sentimentality as I share with you the first book I pulled together from beginning to end. This is a hardcover, limited edition of Wilkie Collins’ The Moonstone, which Harper & Brothers first published in 1869. Considered the very first detective novel in the English language, this is a facsimile of the first edition (including all illustrations!) for Bourbon Street Books; a classic through and through.
I knocked a couple of paperbacks off of my shelf to put this beauty on display.
Lo bramo tantissimo!

Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes follows up the global success of Downton Abbey with this wonderfully rich adaptation of one of his favourite novels by Anthony Trollope. Also featuring The Thick of It’s Rebecca Front and Lovejoy himself, Ian McShane, this three-part drama focuses on the difficulties that Dr Thomas Thorne (Rev’s Tom Hollander) experiences as he tries to secure the future of his beautiful yet impoverished young niece, Mary (Stefanie Martini).
