do you have any fun childhood stories to tell us?
During the years I grew up, my homeland went through a great deal of change. While I was rather unaware of the politics at the time, my childhood friends and I watched as our world transformed around us. A source of amusement was when one of our little band would see someone from Europe for the first time. How they would gawk! And yet each of us did the same upon first seeing the hair, features, and clothing which were quite foreign to us at the time.

Why, I shall be a doctor, I imagine! What about you?
how close were you to Genshin and Jigoku when you guys were students?
I knew them both before we departed for Great Britain, and once we arrived we spent quite a bit of time together as we adjusted to the culture and the language. As time went on we drifted apart, each busy with our own jobs, but managed to meet on occasion for tea or a drink. Well, and the occasional run-in on a crime scene with Asogi and Shomes at loggerheads.
when did you tell sholmes and the others about susato?
Well, it was a long time ago and I don't rightly recall. Sholmes was an active man and spent most of his time in pursuit of one case or another, and pulled me alongside him. But I know I did tell him, and sent him many stories in my letters of Susato as she grew up.

how much homework do you give out to your students?
The only homework I give is assigned readings and occasional lab work, but dedicated study outside of class time is essential to succeeding in my courses.

Well, they are a little late this year, but yesterday morning I walked out to the garden and saw a great number of irises in bloom.

Like most children, Susato has on more than one occasion. However, getting a pet was not feasible when she was anticipating a long stay in Great Britain. I am often at the University, you see.

what is something that you miss?
Well, now, there are quite a few things I miss. If I were to pick just one at this moment, it would be sitting by the fire in 221B surrounded by my family.
what would you tell your kids if you found them up after their bedtime?
Whatever they are working on will be there in the morning, and they will approach it with fresh eyes if they sleep on it. It is also important to get adequate rest to avoid illness.
