❄️ 100 days of Zayne - Day 51, 52 & 53/100
[Continuation of Vampire Zayne AU - first part >> day 21, previous part >> day 49]
There’re only three people with access to the Chairman’s office, besides himself of course. The twins, Luke and Kieran, and his beloved.
If Sylus were to describe his beloved, he would say she’s always been a fiesty little kitten. Cute paws, sharp claws, with an even sharper wit. She has been the only human who dared challenge him, and continues to do so in every lifetime, regardless of the circumstances she was born into.
Some lives she lived as an Empress, feared but adored by all her subjects. Some lives, a little girl from the grasslands, who no man can match in a horse race. In others, she was even his ‘enemy’ of sorts, a hunter of vampires, protector of humans. Yet, their souls will always call for each other, and the bond they forge grows stronger with every life she lived with him.
How many lives or years has it been? Probably more than a millennia has passed. Sylus is afterall, a primordial vampire, old as creation itself. Honestly, most vampires wither away in their long life, physical sustenance is easy enough to fulfil, but eternity without mental stimulation is pure torture for most.
As a young vampire he thrived on finding new ‘toys’ to play with. Usually the ‘toys’ comprised of empires, kingdoms, whatever humans decide to call themselves as a society. He enjoyed seeing how long they would last until their eventual demise, and he loved engaging them in various ‘games’.
His beloved was gifted to him when he was playing one of his ‘games’. Silly humans, they tried appeasing him with sacrifices. It never worked, not until he met her.
From the moment he saw her standing there at the entrance of his cave, unceremoniously dumped by the kingdom who captured her from their neighbouring lands, he knew she was different.
Proud. Unwavering. The confidence to stand in the face of an unfathomable fate that awaits her.
“Just get it over with.”
He still remembers her first words. The only thing betraying how she really felt was the slightest quiver at the end of her sentence as she stared into his ruby red eyes defiantly.
“And why should I?” he responded with a smirk, teasing, testing this interesting prey.
“And why shouldn’t you?” she challenged in return, “I am of no value, I am not even from this kingdom!”
The little stomps from her feet barely kicked up any dirt or dust, but he found it cute all the same.
Soon he bestowed the pet name “kitten” on his beloved. He found it apt and endearing, she found it degrading and demeaning. Well, at first anyway.
Years passed and she began to love him, the soul behind the “monster”, and then hearing “kitten” became dear to her too.
Upon reaching the end of her natural, human life, they were in a dilemma. She asked to be turned, but the process is inherently risky. He didn’t doubt her will to become a vampire, he didn’t doubt her ability to withstand the transformation. He wanted to spend eternity with her.
However a turned life is also potentially a cursed one. It varies from human to human, and back then, there were barely any records of a complete and successful transition. There was always a price to pay, a hefty one, it was likely that the things you hold most dearly will be taken away from you.
In the end, his dear beloved passed peacefully in their home, in his arms. Their souls bound in eternity, forged from their purest desires to share the same fates.
Sylus spent the next few years in her absence building his own empire. Gone were the days he played games for the fun of it. Now he has a goal. She will never live the life she had before, a poor girl captured by an enemy kingdom to be a sacrifice.
He controlled empires from the shadows, holding immense power and wealth.
By the time his beloved had reincarnated, he was the undisputed ‘ruler’ of both the underworld and the human world.
Sylus is a patient vampire, he waited decades for her return, and he is willing to wait a few more years for her to become an adult before he makes his move.
It wasn’t as if she was born into poverty or an abusive environment. In fact, she was living the very life she had once told him she wished for. Normal, peaceful, uneventful. Just the beauties of a simple life with a loving family.
He did not want to take it away from her, so he watched and waited. Ensuring that nothing gets in the way of her ideal childhood.
She was in her twenties by the time he decided it was appropriate to make himself known. He thought the soul bond was strong enough for her to recognise who he was. She had stayed single all these years, wouldn’t that mean she was waiting for him too? Surely the yearning he feels for her in his soul is the same for her. Why would it be any different?
“Hello, kitten,” he greets with his signature smirk as he slides next to her on the park bench.
“Do I know you?” she took one look, made a disgusted face, and folded her arms defensively.
Their first reunion went as poorly as it could have gone, and he spent the next decade pursuing her all over again. But he thoroughly enjoyed the thrill, the chase, the games, and finally the taste of shared victory when she remembered him and their hearts and souls united once more was so sweet.
Sylus did it again the next life, and the multiple lives after that. Embracing the different versions of his beloved, and loving her all the same.
But that painful first reunion, the rejection, was something he does not wish upon anyone. Definitely not his friend, the dear doctor Zayne.
However, he doesn’t know who this new person in his life is, and whether she is truly soul bound to him, so he has to be cautious in his advice. It is likely that they don’t remember their shared past, and from experience with his beloved, he knows remembering past lives could be an unpleasant experience.
In any case, it’s both a journey and choice Zayne must make with his partner, Sylus can only watch over them and offer his support.
[To be continued…]
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED SYLUS’S STORY!! ❤️ I made it into one post because I didn’t feel like splitting it up (ok tbh life also got in the way of the writing, I had it all in my head but didn’t have time to sit down to get it out hahaha)
A/n: I’m attempting a 100 days of Zayne challenge! The goal is to post something about Zayne everyday - no min/max word count, and it can be about anything or with anyone as long as Zayne is involved. It’s all in good fun and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the posts as much as I’ll enjoy writing them ☺️
