âMy Dad says, if every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs.â
A remarkably pertinent sentiment, and I love how Steven is drawing his strength and wisdom from Greg, even now, when heâs the furthest from the human side of his life that heâs ever been. Itâs that cross-cultural experience, the ability to see from a truly outside perspective while still being part of the Gem world, that helps Steven succeed where no one else could.
But I have a feeling the actual idiom went right over Yellowâs head.
Yeah. Not sure how Blue understood it well enough to explain, but Iâm glad she did!
Should I start keeping track of âDiamonds learning about foodâ faces? Will there be one for White? G-d I hope so
Yellow is in anguish, but determined to do what she must...
And Steven comes in with the save! As well as some wise words to convince her with. Seems like we will be OK, after all (at least until White shows up to the party)
Will Yellow actually admit to her deeply buried feelings? Or will she lash out like she always does?
Option two it is! Looks like I do get to see what happens when Yellow uses her powers!
(Iâm guessing that Blueâs screams will snap Yellow out of it, considering how much she cares for her. Or if not, Steven will definitely step in - thereâs no way weâre actually getting a poofed Diamond)
Well, there goes any remaining chance of staying hidden from White!
Those Topaz guards must be so confused right now; in fact, if theyâre fully in line with Gem propaganda theyâre probably having existential crises! If the Diamonds are supposed to be perfect and infallible, what does it mean when two of them crash through a wall while attacking each other and screaming about their emotions? Who do you side with when your leaders have never before been on different sides?
Or maybe we wonât be - escalating from arguments and shoving to a high-powered fight is NOT THE RIGHT MOVE, Blue! If Yellow actually gets mad enough to use her poofing abilities - well, it would be cool to see what would happen, but also really, really bad for the escape attempt!
But hey, at least we found our friends! .....aaaand Yellow is here
And she looks mad!Â
Not murderously so though, not like she looked when Steven claimed to be Pink for the first time. Just exasperated, and strict. I think weâre going to be OK
Wait... the gems in those bubbles are strangely shaped...
[stunned silence]
.....
FUCK thatâs a lot of fusion experiments. Do they repurpose every gem they shatter into one of these abominations? I want to throw up.
This further supports, though, the notion that Homeworld is running out of resources. Why else would they try to recombine even the fragments of failed Gems into something useful, and continue trying after so many failures?
(Is that a fucking Rose Quartz I see back there?)
Oh hey! Topazes!
By the gem placement, theyâre sadly not the ones we met before - I really hope we get to see those ones again!
So Blue plays mom to the bratty Diamond, while Yellow keeps track of the actual prisoners, huh?
Are they really just planning to grab the CGs and leave? I suppose Steven hasnât had much time to think yet.
I guarantee, if nothing goes wrong and they manage to escape, Steven will remember their original purpose and want to go back. (And thatâs a pretty big âifâ!)
Food! Very important for not-dying purposes. (Iâm guessing Stevenâs the one who packed fresh fruit on a potentially long mission - good thing itâs only been a few days!)
âYou willingly put that into your physical forms? Doesnât it hurt?â
And Iâm back! I donât have much time, but I wanted to make at least a little progress today! Now where were we...
Ah yes! Blue smuggling Steven and Connie out of jail - apparently, in her hair!
I do love how inhuman Yellow and Blueâs hairstyles are, once you take a close look at them
Unfortunately, I have to stop here and go to sleep - Iâll be back later this week!
So, Stevenâs plan was to show Blue Diamond that she was a bad mom to Pink - and it worked! It seems a bit of an easy win to me, but I can buy it - we already knew how much Blue cared about Pink, what with the 6000 years of mourning, and between her and Yellow, sheâs definitely the soft one. Steven also has the advantage that, to Blue, Pink has just come back from the dead, and in that emotionally compromised state, Blue will do a lot to keep Pink happy.
Ok, so this make sense with Blueâs personality, and is a really sweet moment. But arenât we forgetting something important here? You know, like THE ENTIRE REASON STEVEN CAME HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE???
If the CGs just leave now, they still have now way of healing the corrupted gems. Plus, Blue is convinced, but that doesnât just mean the other diamonds wonât want to take Pink back!
And on top of all that, Steven called for backup - Greg and the Gems left on Earth are going to head straight for Homeworld (Iâm guessing in Larsâs ship, since we havenât seen him in a little while)
Yeah, even if this episode wasnât a 4-parter, it wouldnât be hard to tell that weâre not done here yet.
From a logical standpoint, Steven should really apologize; he doesnât have to actually mean it, after all, he just needs to get out of prison.
That being said, I am BLOWN AWAY by how calm Steven is here. Heâs not scared, or angry, or defiant, heâs just stating a fact - thereâs nothing for him to apologize for.Â
Was his brief visit to Earth really enough to give Steven this resolve? Or does he have a plan of his own?
And Connie, as always, is the practical one of the pair - itâs great that youâre fine emotionally, Steven, but that does nobody any good if you die of dehydration!
âWhoa, Deja Blue!â
kfdadljfhdsjfh I with I had come up with that one!
And whoa, that size difference! Itâs always a bit scary to be reminded of it - at least Blueâs not trying to kill Steven this time
(Not that the result will be any different if she keeps refusing to believe that humans need food to live)
Well that whole sequence was fucking terrifying!
I notice that Steven snapped out of the dream once he realized he was in Pinkâs body, unlike the Jungle Moon dream with Stevonnie, where they stayed in their own body the whole time and only saw Pinkâs reflection in the mirror. So, is this progress or a step back?
