i’ll keep reading and watching mysteries don’t get me wrong but the greatest plot twist in any media ever is episode ten of yuri on ice

in my opinion a good plot twist fits perfectly into the narrative. it re-contextualizes, it makes you realize that all those weird things that happened weren't weird after all. an amazing plot twist can't really be figured out the first time you engage with it BUT it doesn't feel like it came out of nowhere when it happens. when you re-engage, it makes sense.

is viktor flirty and forward with yuuri because that's his personality or is it because yuuri made the first move?

did viktor decide to coach yuuri out of desperation for something different or was it because yuuri asked him to?

did chris make a move on yuuri because chris is a perv in general or because yuuri made the first move?

did yurio hate yuuri for taking viktor away out of possessiveness or was it because of a pattern of losing to him?

did viktor make up the story of eros for his programs by random or was it based on his previous experience of getting swept away and then abandoned?

the way this anime works is so out there and random that a lot of character decisions can be chalked up to "well that's just how they act in this show" BUT a lot of them are far more rational when you learn about what happened at the banquet.
