[Newsletter] 50 days in Hakone 🌄️
After my first visit in 2018, I knew I had to come back to Hakone. So I booked almost 2 months to enjoy it at its fullest !
For those who don't know, Hakone is a volcano crater, very close to mount Fuji, and you can enjoy hot springs with gorgeous scenery. The landscape is very varied, from the very scenic Lake Ashi to the caldeira, and biodiversity is very diverse and unique, with many endemic species. Hakone is listed as a National Park.
First, I had to go from Kyoto to Hakone by train. This was my first time taking the Shinkansen ! A great experience, I was really impressed by the service frequency.
I'm staying near Lake Ashi, which is absolutely gorgeous. It is surrounded by mountains, and due to its high elevation, fog is pretty common, and creates an eerie atmosphere.
Of course it's beautiful when the sun is out as well ! And on clear days... You can see Mount Fuji !!
Oh did I mention there are cruises on the Lake ? Cruises on a PIRATE SHIP ? Why not. Welcome to Japan. I still wonder how they brought it here...
Here is my favourite spot to read. Only 5mn away from home !! I go there several times a week with my e-reader I bought on Mercari. Here I've taken gorgeous sunset pictures, but I'll keep them for later 🤭️ I twisted my ankle very bad for it but it was worth it
Of course I spend most of my time taking plants and animal pictures for inaturalist ! LOOK AT THIS everything is gorgeous. This butterfly especially is magical to encounter
I'll be honest, a lot of pictures are redundant, and I have 30 days left to go, so this newsletter is a bit short. After a very socially active first month, I'm glad to get some time alone and enjoy my time slowly :)
