A hand carved wooden birch bark box arrived at the Monastery addressed to the Warpriest. The detail was immaculate and the box was no bigger than the palm of the man’s hand. A note was attached to it, written in familiar flowing elegant script:
Warpriest,
I hope these serve you well....
"Choice is a precious thing, an option always available to us. It is somewhere between the heart and the mind that we interpret the demand, and follow through with the action that best aligns with the integrity of our soul." — Yves Dorje
Nothing is permanent.
His Holiness, the Dalai Lama
I do not often reflect on everything that has changed in the passing of seasons. It is evident enough in the world around me. What I do think of is what remains. There is so little that is permanent, that is eternal. Even this happiness I feel, this bond with Agorix that strengthens by the day… It, too, will be subject to change.
I had not seen Yves in some time. Years, in fact. The last I saw of him I was fourteen and called back to my family to progress into the next stage of my training. Perhaps it was chance or merely good fortune, but with all that has changed, I am grateful to find that his eyes have not.
It was an unexpected pleasure to find him in the monastery. We’d not passed words since I left, and my life did not give me time to consider what was past, or to mourn the loss of it. Now that so much has changed, I find I do not mourn any of it. Yves understands this sort of thing; not many do. A true friend shares your happiness and helps you find the perspective you may lose when troubles darken your path.
He has altered with the years, but there is nothing I would consider a fault which has come of that. I remember his voice encouraging me in the tasks his master set on us both, and that same voice I heard today as we talked. It’s obvious he’s taken his path to heart and finds peace in it. I can’t wait to relate this to Agorix. And for them to meet.
There is something in both of them that I think will resonate together. Perhaps they’re kindred spirits. Connection transcends race, and if anyone could sit calmly with a charr and discuss the world, it is Yves. I hope we can bring him to our home in the Grove to enjoy the peace there.

If that is what you believe, tell yourself it everyday. Never allow a day to pass, a day to forget. For the moment that you do, you open space within your heart.

I admit I was delighted to see the Warpriest, Yves Dorje, again. We happened to bump into one another today while I was observing the turn out at Miss Cartwright’s Job Fair- which I must add seemed to be quite the success!
We spoke about the young Ministry hopeful, the girl seems to have a good head upon her shoulders and a kind heart. What she is doing for the people is truly a wonderful thing, hoping her good deeds would continue to remained Blessed.
I was happy to see my old friend again. I hope we run into each other once more for I would greatly like to catch up with him. He is a quiet and contemplative soul but his heart speaks with wisdom and I believe it is his very nature, so balanced and grounded, that I enjoy so wholly.
I should bring him some of those fine teas to enjoy together sometime, that way we may savor something relaxing while we catch up with one another. Perhaps he will like that….
He adopted me, and I adopted his teachings.
"The only trap you must beware not to fall into, is to think that each day is the same as the next. In fact, each morning brings with it a hidden miracle, and we must pay attention to this miracle." the words burned in his heart, as he remembered them to be his masters. It had been three years since his master had gone into seclusion, leaving Yves to walk his own path.
On that path today he stopped out of curiosity, greeting individuals both new and old. Pleasantly did this occurrence produce an old associate Priestess Leoni, who he took to talking. "Time is an interesting thing, it puts blinders on us much like a horse. Limiting our sight to be at its mercy. I pray that she remains the same woman that she is currently." the words flowed easily from him, but lingered. Politely he excused himself from his present company and flocked to the fountain, his light amber eyes getting lost in his rippled reflection. "A man could spend a lifetime staring at a mirror trying to see the way that time has changed him, but he would see no change. We ourselves are the mirror that cast the reflection of our passions. Without inertia, without risk we offer nothing to look upon..." he shook his head snapping out of his trance, quickly fleeing the scene so that he may find a proper place of solitude to meditate on his thoughts.
"If there is one equality that we all share, it is our likeness to the flower. To blossom into our own, the metamorphosis of individual beauty. Yet, like the flower, we live a delicate life - severed easily with a pluck, pick or snip." — Yves Dorje
