Thursday, Oct 6, 2016 I’ve taken some pics of the Cuenca sidewalks the last few times I have been out walking. Personally I think the sidewalks are pretty good in Cuenca. The conditions of the sidewalks in Bahia de Caraquez were much worse. In fact most of the coastal towns I have been in have pretty beat up sidewalks. Walkers beware. The biggest problem isn’t necessarily the holes, but all the pieces of metal sticking up. It looks like they may have been a sign at one time. Tuesday, Nov 8, 2016 It is a beautiful sunny day in Cuenca!! I am warm for the first time in a week. I have to admit that Cuenca looks so different to me in the sunshine. The light glistens and reflects off the water running along the Tomebamba river bed. Wednesday, Nov 9, 2016 I was at my desk bright and early this morning. Chase was already up because he had to leave the house by 6:30 am to complete, and receive, his tourist visa today. I on the other hand got to drink my coffee in peace and quiet. Well, it started out that way anyway. I noticed I left footprints on the tile floor when I walked away from my desk. It was from water. Tuesday, Nov 15, 2016 A strange thing happened mid-morning. I’m at my desk and I can hear our calefon (gas hot water heater) making a rapid clicking sound…clickclickclickclick when someone turned the hot water on. This means that either the battery is dead for the igniter of the gas flame, or there is no gas coming into the calefon. I just changed the battery a couple of weeks ago so I knew that wasn’t the problem. We have two propane tanks hooked up in the underground parking area of this house. Wednesday, Nov 16, 2016 A gorgeous day in Cuenca and none of us wanted to miss it. We all walked along the Yanuncay river until we got to Solano, then we stopped in a place for a light lunch. I had a chicken empanada and it was good. Added some aji sauce with onions and I was set to go. All for a buck 60. Our destination is Parque Paraiso and it was my intention to walk the 5 miles there. Since the day is so bright and sunny, the weather so nice and warm, I wore my flip flops.

Friday, May 19, 2017 Open Spaces I have been spending a lot of time walking on the beach this week. With everyone still gone the house gets too quiet for me and the walls start closing in.
