Holiday Gaming - best screen for use in the sun!
Off of the newest 8bitpeoples release, Sulumi takes Nanoloop to the next level and delivers a MASSIVE dance track. The other two remixes on there are just as brilliant, including a remix by Covox, who never fails to amaze me. As usual with 8bitpeoples, the release is completely free.
If you hadn’t heard about it, you should also really check out Nanoloop. It’s deceptively simple software available for a variety of platforms (including iOS and Android).
BUY a Nanoloop-inspired shirt from Fangamer
Wondrous things done with nanoloop here!
Nice arrival in the post today!
It may be grey outside (what is that snow!) but there's one way we can bring some sunshine to our skies!
One way to bypass the 10 plays demo limit!
I played RENGA!
(This has been in my Draft box since January! I'm really bad at this blogging thing!)
At the end of 2012, I visited Bafta in London and got the chance to play Renga. It was developed by WallFour who also create other similar style multiplayer games.
The aim of the game is to collect resources for your spaceship while defending waves of attacking ships in space, set on a big cinema screen!
Everyone in the cinema has a laser pointer which are used to move your spaceship by consensus and enemy ships are defeated by pointing at their outer sections at once. This makes for an interesting experience, where 100 people attempt to agree what to do! It’s an amazing game, set in a cinematic environment where you actually communicate with a bunch of strangers to fight for a common cause: destroy the enemy spaceships and at the same time harness resources for your own ship in preparation to fight (and defeat) the boss!
WallFour will be bringing RENGA to some cinemas throughout London. Check their website.

Hide&Seek Weekender
I played some games and saw some performances at the Hide&Seek Weekender party on Saturday night in the Old Vic Tunnels in London! I only managed to find out about the event during my morning coffee & internet session on Friday, whilst checking up on the website for a game called Johan Sebastian Joust, which I'd been longing to play since I first heard about a good while ago.
First up then has to be Johan Sebastian Joust!
Johan Sebastian Joust is a game by Die Gute Fabrik, a small game studio from Denmark. Players hold a Playstation Move controller in one of their hands. You play along to music by Johan Sebastian Bach, and the tempo of the music dictates the speed that you can move about. As the Playstation Move controllers are motion sensitive, they can recognise when you are moving too much. The aim of the game is to knock the other players out by forcing them to move their controller whilst keeping yours steady! It's a fantastic and engaging game to play, and reminded me of school yard style games. When the game came down to the final duel between the last two players it was really entertaining to watch them stepping round sizing each others movements up!
Several Amazing Things About Tetris by Patrick Ashe, was a performance about one of the best videogames ever made, Tetris. The performance highlighted ' history with the game, interesting facts and the game's complicated history. The presentation lasts as long as a member of the audience is able to keep a game of Tetris going, if they 'Top Out' (fill the screen) the performance ends, and another member from the audience is invited to play, and just as the game restarts so does the performance!
The night featured several other group games which were both fun and bizarre to play.
Bar playing Joust, the highlight of the party was the Wheel of Music! The large 'Wheel of Fortune style' spinner has various styles of music around it's circumference.
Every twenty minutes the wheel was spun to decide the next twenty minutes of music!
The Hide&Seek Weekender is yearly so I recommend you check it out next year!
