-jumps because she thought she was alone- Hi, did you want to use the court? You can have it if you want, I was just finishing up.
Oh, no, I'm just passing through. I haven't played basketball in years.

-jumps because she thought she was alone- Hi, did you want to use the court? You can have it if you want, I was just finishing up.
Oh, no, I'm just passing through. I haven't played basketball in years.
Well, fuck.
Um, no, probably not. Iām not, I mean, to me itās just the way things are. Yaā know? Some people arenāt mean for anything.Ā
Well, it isn't the way things should be. I'm serious, Padraic. I don't know you well, but I know that you're worth something.
My point exactly, and now you wonāt.
Has anyone ever told you that you repeat yourself a lot?
-playing basketball-
Oh, hi!
Well, fuck.
It wouldnāt matter if I was gone.
Of course it would! Why are you so down on yourself?
Control variable, remember?
How could I forget?
Well, fuck.
I donāt know. We rode together when she picked up Sarah. I didnāt like not being able to do anything about the fact that she was taken away. Itās not like there arenāt other people who deserve worse. Like me.Ā
Nobody deserves that, Padraic. Why would you think you do?
Yeah, I guess.
Right. There's the warmth and hospitality I'm used to.
Right. Everyone always wants something better. Someone as nice as yourself is always someones favorite.
If you find this someone, would you let me know? So, Emery, tell me about yourself.
Itās just ironic and that really doesnāt count as opening up as much as you think it does.
Of course it doesn't... But it is nice to have an actual conversation with you.
You donāt really wish you were such an open person trust me. Everyone hates people who speak there minds? Take me for example. Iām nobodys favorite.
The grass is always greener, right? And you say that like I'm somebody's favorite.
And thatās where we differ, you didnāt want to be closed-off but I do. Things are simpler when you donāt have to worry about doing one thing and affecting someone or doing something else and having it backfire on someone else.
Yeah, worrying is all I ever do. Is it weird that you just opened up to me about being closed off, or just ironic? Not to mention you hate me.
Itās not that I donāt like it. Iām just no good at it.
I guess it it kind of stupid. You can only say so much about the weather, right? I wish I was the kind of person who could be straight with people. But I can usually only manage "how are you?" and "what have you been up to?"
To my knowledge, yes. Maybe I wasnāt quite as reserved when I actually had to go to school and interact with people, but Iāve roughly always been this way.
I used to be closed-off. I didn't want to be, but when no one but your parents and teachers talk to you, it's kind of inevitable. Part of me still is, just... not in the way you are.
No, Iāve gotten used to it. And youād be surprised by how much Iāve had to smile lately, being able to keep a straight face again is a relief.
Were you always like this? Closed off, I mean.
Azalea Lourdes ⦠Twenty ⦠College Sophomore ⦠Bookstore Assistant ⦠FC: Kaya Scoledario
"Setting fire to our insides for fun, to distract our hearts from ever missing them."
Bio:
Azalea Lourdes was born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her parents owned a flower shop, and lovingly named their only daughter after one of their favorite flowers. She was an easy going little girl who loved life, always laughing, smiling, and trying to help her parents. Azalea was incredibly sweet and charming, even at an early age. She always loved the arts. She adored every medium, and to Azalea, the world was her canvas. She was incredibly happy and blessed.
Unfortunately, as Azalea grew, she came to find that although adults loved to talk to her, kids her own age never would. She was teased for being a āgoody-two shoesā throughout elementary and middle school. Azalea was always very quiet and kept to herself. Making friends never came easy to her, and eventually she became too shy to even attempt to connect. When high school started, Azalea had had enough of being sweet and easy going all the time. So when her classmates teased her and called her names, she teased them and name-called right back. And although she maintained her shyness, her sweetness and love of everything in life disappeared. She befriended other social outcasts, and tried to emulate them. She tried drinking, smoking, and sleeping around. But nothing made her feel like she was part of something.
When Azalea was 16, her mother was diagnosed with stage four-stomach cancer. Doctors were not sure why they caught it so late, but Azalea and her father knew it was because her mother hated being sick and away from her everyday life. The cancer was too far along and she died only months later. Her motherās death permanently changed her. Azalea knew her mother had been disappointed in Azaleaās new rude and apathetic persona, and from the day she buried her mother on, she has tried to be as kind as possible. She even managed to make a few true friends by the end of high school. Not wanting to be too far away from her father, Azalea ended up attending Maywood Hills Community College. Azalea has become more outspoken and witty, and appears to be a relatively happy person. But Azalea misses her mother more than anything, and not a day goes by that she doesnāt wish her mother were still here.
Personality:
āĀ Kind, Insightful, and Enthusiastic.
āĀ Vulnerable, Distant, and Insecure.
Connections:
Emily Donovan [Best Friend]-Ā Azalea and Emily just clicked instantly, each of them being somewhat of an outsider, in comparison to the rest of the residents of Maywood Hills. After only a short while, and just a few conversations, they became very good friends. With everything going on in town, itās nice to have someone you can connect with, and thatās what these two have.
Lana Greer [Employer]-Ā Lana is the owner of the bookstore Azalea works at. They do not know each other well, but get along just fine. Azalea looks up to and respects Lana. They arenāt good friends, so they mainly have a typical employer/employee relationship.
Wyatt Taylor [Friend]-Ā Azalea and Wyatt are polar opposites. She is shy and proper while he is outgoing and doesnāt take things too seriously. Their friendship may seem unlikely, but they balance each other out well. There is something about Wyatt that perplexes Azalea and she is eager to find out why.Ā
Secret:
Azalea is compulsively nice. She believes that the only way to redeem herself to her late mother is to be incredibly kind, but Azalea takes it to an extreme. She always says or does what she thinks is the āniceā thing to do, even if itās wrong, or will ultimately hurt her in some way.

I mean itās a nice question, but do you really care what the answer is? I mean really?
Well, I wonder. But I guess it doesn't really matter.
You don't like small talk, do you?
