Alex couldn’t help but notice the color in her cheeks as he spoke and it only endeared him more to her. She was entirely too adorable for his own good and he realized they’d just been those people who couldn’t keep their hands off each other even in public but he feigned ignorance as Zoe told the hostess it was just them and she led them to a table. Once they were seated he looked over at her and grinned before asking, “You know she’s totally judging us right now, right? It’s you fault for not being able to keep your hands off of me.”

Zoë sat across from him, nodding and laughing a bit at what he’d said. “I know she is, and she’s probably warning our server right now.” She smirked setting her hand on the table in grabbing distance. “But hey! You say that as if it was totally one sided!” Zo teased knowing he’d wanted to kiss her just as much as she’d wanted to kiss him.

Alex laughed along with her at her comment before replying, “I might be a little distracted by your lips in there but I think we can manage. You can kiss me like that whenever you want to though, babe. I plan to once we’re done eating.” He let go of his hold on her and returned his hand to hers before opening the door for her and waiting for her to lead the way.

She giggled quietly, sure her cheeks were turning a bright red. Zoë was literally squealing on the inside at how smooth he was. She let her arms fall from around his neck as he pulled away a bit before leading them into the pizzeria, sure the hostesses had seen their little moment just a second ago. “Hi, it’s gonna be two.” She said before looking back at Alex and grinning.

Alex tried to keep it together as she spoke and bit her lip in a way that made him want to do all sorts of things to her. He knew the look in her eyes though and he wasn’t going to fight the urge to kiss her until she was breathless so that’s exactly what he did, pulling her closer to him as his lips met hers. As soon as he did the butterflies went crazy in his stomach and even after he finally stopped kissing her that feeling remained. “Wow…,” he let out a little breathless as he pulled away to look at her again.

She hadn’t really believed in that fireworks feeling, or more so that it would ever happen for her, but kissing Alex was just that in that moment. Part of her never wanted the moment to end. “Who can eat pizza after a kiss like that?” She grinned up at him, letting her fingers brush past the nape of his neck. “Just kidding I can definitely still eat but, wow!” Zoë laughed softly.

The way she was being so affectionate and outright adorable were making it impossible for him to keep his cool either and he knew he was blushing now which was perfect timing now that they were at their destination. Alex pulled her to him to stop her from going inside for a moment and he wrapped his arms around her waist before looking down at those beautiful blue eyes of hers an responding, “Probably but I sort of selfishly don’t want you to keep your cool around me. I like seeing you like this. It makes me happy.”

When he pulled her in, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. She couldn’t help how big her smile grew as he spoke. “I think we should all give in to our selfish side every once in a while.” It was all so surreal how charming and sweet he was. No one had ever tried to woo her like that before and it was nice for once. Zoë bit her lip flashing her kiss me eyes up at Alex.

Alex grinned over at the blonde as she spoke, realizing she was just as nervous as he was about this and he had to admit it was really cute knowing he had the same effect on her as she did on him. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as they walked before responding, “I’ll do my best for you but it’s sort of impossible not to. You’re pretty amazing, actually. I’d be really lucky if that happened.”

She leaned her head on Alex’s arm, sure he could feel her nervousness as her heart rate increased. “You’re making it really hard to keep my cool.” Zoë admitted with a smirk as they got closer to the pizza place. “But you’re also pretty fantastic so it’d just be a lot of luck and good karma for the both of us probably.” She laughed leaning off of him so they could walk inside.

Alex hadn’t realized he was holding his breath until she suggested they hold hands and then he let it out, telling himself to relax as he got up and laced his fingers into hers. He couldn’t help the smile on his face now as he led her down the boardwalk. After a few steps he finally spoke up and said, “You’re already cute but I think I could get used to this. It’s been awhile since I’ve liked a girl this much. You might just be girlfriend material.”

Zoë let him lace their fingers together, moving her free hand to his arm just to hold herself closer to him as they walked. “Wow you think so?” She giggled with a hint of sarcasm. “Play your cards right and it’s definitely a possibility.” Zo assured him letting go of his arm for a few seconds to move her hair to one side before letting it settle right back where it had been. “I like that you like me enough to think about me a like a possible girlfriend material type thing.” She fumbled over her words, smiling and looking up and over at him

Alex had been so wrapped up in his thoughts he didn’t notice her until she spoke and when he looked up and saw her in the blue dress and that smile on her face he almost lost the ability to speak. She was stunning on her own but he was used to seeing her in casual clothes or a bikini. He stood up instinctively and smiled shyly back at her before remembering he should say something so he responded rather lamely in his opinion, “Hi. You look…um…wow. There’s no word good enough for it.” It didn’t help that now that she was here his heart was pounding uncontrollably in his chest and the butterflies had seemed to multiply. He never got this way and it made him nervous he liked her too much already but they were here and he was going to try and make her like him just as much if he could manage it.

She let out a small laugh at how cute and speechless he was. “That’s sweet” Zoë grinned stepping closer to him. “You look very wow too.” She giggled looking him over before looking up into his warm eyes. His eyes were so revealing, she could see how nervous he was and it selfishly made her happy. “I am so hungry. “Let’s go get pizza and hold hands and just be cute.” Zoë suggested reaching her hand out for his just to make the transition easier.

It had only been an hour since Alex had left Zoe at the beach after they’d gone surfing together. Just seeing her this morning had kept him smiling throughout the day and the subtle flirtation and stolen glances at each other hadn’t hurt either. He knew he was in trouble with her now that the familiar sensation of butterflies had thoroughly set in when they were together. So when it had come time for them to go off and get ready he’d been more than tempted to kiss her but he’d fought the urge and they’d parted ways, agreeing to meet at the boardwalk later. It hadn’t taken him too long to go home and shower and change for their date and soon he was sitting on a bench twenty minutes too early to wait for her.

Alex never usually got nervous about anything but the anticipation and the thoughts of her had gotten him that way. He didn’t know all that much about her and he wanted more than anything to make sure he didn’t mess whatever it was between them up before it started. He hadn’t actually had a girlfriend in a long time so although the feelings were familiar it also felt a little scary. If he let her in enough she could hurt him like his ex had but Zoe seemed genuinely sweet and he liked her so he was going to give it a shot.

There was something about how sweet Alex was. Zoë had always attracted the over confident guys who never felt the need to try, but there was something refreshing about a guy who actually wanted to get to know her. After getting home from the beach she showered quickly so she could take her time getting ready, really just wanting the extra time to try on a couple different outfits for her roommates, the group consensus settling on a casual light blue, backless sundress. 

Zoë walked toward the boardwalk a couple of minutes early not wanting him to have to wait on her. She smiled when she saw Alex waiting on a bench, her pace getting just a little bit quicker as she got closer to him looking down to check her watch just to make sure she wasn’t late. “Hi!” Zoë said excitedly as a huge smile spread across her face.

Alex: maybe pizza and ice cream? you can tell me all about what makes you happy while we eat.

Zoë: but okay yes i like this plan. :)
