In a little over 3 hours this event will be happening at the strand.  And for the remaining 3 hours I will be bouncing my leg up and down excitedly.

Angelica and I spent the last two days in a humid, hyper daze putting together the second issue of the zine.  The contributors brought such incredible sincere stuff that still manages to have ridiculous humor to it.  Angelica drew the cover and then handprinted every copy.  I stayed up late last night watching Steven Universe and binding each issue. And tonight we get to relax by just hosting and being in the show.

I like to do shows because I’m too nervous/in-my-head to be able to talk to people I admire, but  if I am on the same bill as them, there’s an excuse to talk.  Tonight I get to be in a reading with @cynthiaschemmer, who writes the absolutely beautiful and structurally incredible Secret Bully,  I’ve been wanting to have her be on New American Comedy since we started it.  Today the air was cool and dry and blew on me in a way that was distinctly Autumn.  Gust as preview.  Every single thing is incredible.

Tomorrow I am going to be performing at this show with some of my best friends. It's full character comedy set, which always ends up strange and fun. If you are in Brooklyn, and you like phenomenal standup that is more short fiction than observations about how dating is weird, you should come!

Next Friday I’ll be reading at the Strand in NYC as part of this series! I’ll try to make you laugh at least once, to stay true to the series name, but really I’ll probably just make you cry.

February was the first time we recorded the show and I think the video helps capture the magic energy of this night.  Every performer was phenomenal, every audience member was nice and looked amazing, we all drank at a confederacy of dunces bar themed bar afterwards. It was fantastic.

SO MUCH NEW AMERICAN COMEDY ON THIS SHOOOOOW.

Patti, Catherine, and Caroline are all past/future NAC performers and all so incredible.  This show is being put on by Jordan Michael Aggregate.  He had me (zach) host a show of his in January and it was literally one of the most fun nights of my life.  and now I get to do it again and i’m exuberant.

Last winter I was home in Olympia, driving around with a friend and talking about New York City. I had just moved there, but couldn't quite explain what I liked about the city, if there was anything. Everywhere was noisy and treeless, my days were spent coming in and out of panic attacks, my nights were spent bombing at open mics. My big hope was to find a Brooklyn library that was open late--I didn't want books, I just needed a quiet room where I could stare at a wall for a few hours. That whole drive I also played Vagabon, a band I had just seen and fell in love with a few weeks prior. This album didn't match my mood, it explained and amplified and supported it. It drew out the loneliness and made it beautiful, like an overcast sky reflected in a puddle. And I found I didn't need to explain why I was so impatient to get back to the city, I could just say, "Listen to this song. They're playing near my house next week."

Tomorrow they are playing at New American Comedy along with some of my favorite comedians and friends, and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am.

TOOOONIGHT, I'MA BLOW YOUR GENTLY LITERARY SOCKS OFF AT JUNK SHOW, THE HOTTEST NEWEST SHOW IN NEW HOT CITY.  As i typed this I got super grossed out at the term "gently literary" and i am sorry.  I'ma be full blown literary tonight and it will be very good because the whole lineup is just ridiculous. COME, YOU WILL LOVE IT!
