“...what does that jerk know?”
“She’s so pathetic. Everyone would be better off if she’d just die.”

“You mean these Gods that are possibly somehow even weaker than the doormat? And these Devils that are nothing like Father? They’re pathetic and a waste of time. Father is much stronger than any Devil that would let some stupid God walk all over him, anyways. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other Gods were better than Mother, though. What isn’t better than Mother?”

childrenofstarlight:
“Um…I’m playing a game,” An’na replies. It’s Breath of the Wild. She has already gotten two of those Divine Beasts, and is currently taking a ‘break’ to fill out her map some more. Swing, swing, thump. Her heels bump against the couch again. It’s so awkward whenever Cassy is here. They’re brother and sister, but she doesn’t feel the connection. It’s like he’s forcing himself to interact with her. He’s more like a cousin. Maybe she should start thinking of him like that?
Kurotsuno slides into the room like a ghost and sets a plate of snacks on the coffee table. She parks herself in an armchair nearby, giving An’na the confidence to speak again: “D’you wanna watch…?”
Castella knew that his distance from his siblings was his own fault. He rarely if ever came to see any of them, after all, preferring to just stay to himself. He could not blame her for not feeling close to him, since he did not feel close to her either. It was hard enough remembering her name before he walked in here, and he was honestly kind of glad that Kurotsuno had ended up saying it, otherwise that would have just been awkward.
“I don’t really see what fun it is to watch, but I guess.” he nodded, though he doesn’t move to sit or anything. He doesn’t really want to, so he just stands.
childrenofstarlight:
Castella will find the little girl parked in front of the TV, with a Switch controller in hand. Her heels bump rhythmically but silently against the sofa. She doesn’t even look away from the screen when her brother comes in.
“Hi, Cassy,” An’na mumbles. This would be a sad sight if Kurotsuno hadn’t made turned on the lights and moved An’na a safe distance from the screen. The only thing that’s An’na’s doing is the low volume, on account of her sensitive ears.
He watched her quietly as she played her game, making a face to himself. Not like she’d notice anyways considering she didn’t even look. Why was he even coming here to visit her if she wasn’t going to pay attention at all?
There’s an urge to unplug the tv and watch her lose her shit, especially after hearing that horrible nickname, but he controlled himself. “What’cha doing, then? Think you can spare the minute t’tell me~?”
kurotsunolivia:
She squints at how Castella leaves his shoes there. It’s been this way since he was a kid. Little shit. His half-sister is in the single digits and better-behaved than him.
“If you want to say hi to your sister, she’s in the living room.” Kurotsuno will be joining her in a moment. She’s just taking a snack break. Maybe she should bring some food back for Anna?
When you have the structure system of a wet paper towel most things like that end up not even mattering. He didn’t care if she was mad or whatever.
“Right, thanks.” he nodded, heading that way. He was not really close to any of his siblings, but he could at least try. The tenma peeked his head into the room he had been told he’d find An’na in. “Hey kid, you here?”
"Take off your shoes before coming in," Kuro snaps at Castella. A cat slinks around her ankles and flees upstairs, unsettled by the visitor.
Bitch--
“Right, right, my bad~” he kicks his shoes off, though as an act of spite he just leaves them there in the doorway, stepping in with a pleasant smile on his face.
starberrykinder:
He’s right: she doesn’t understand. Her parents would gladly display any gift from her, no matter how unskillful. The closest thing she can think of is how Envi hates her no matter what she does, whether she approaches him or stays away. The frustration is understandable.
“Your dad sounds like an asshole,” is all Licorice can offer.
“I worked hard too...” he grumbled yet again, but then seemed to realize something. The child peeked up at the female, silent for a moment before he bowed his head again, though this time apologetically.
“I’m sorry, you... probably don’t wanna hear me cry about this. Thanks for... giving me this back.”
starberrykinder:
“This is why you can’t rely on a dad to feel good about yourself.” Licorice would like to pet his head or pat his shoulder, but she keeps her hands to herself. The thing is, he doesn’t like her. She understands his feelings, though.
"You don’t understand.” that would be fine if it wasn’t literally everyone. His teachers, the servants, his family. It felt like no one really had any faith in him. It was hard to be optimistic when no one cared. “...I thought at least Father would care. But he only cares about fancy stuff, like the stuff Venus can do.”
starberrykinder:
“I don’t know.” She really doesn’t. It’s not like she saw the thing get thrown away. It was either an accident, or Satanick is even more of an asshole in this world. She feels bad for whoever is Lepus’ other father (if only she knew!).
“Maybe…it as an accident?” she suggests, vainly trying to soothe the boy’s hurt.
“No... stupid Venus didn’t make it so he probably didn’t like it.” the child replied. He had been so proud of it this morning, but maybe it was just bad. Just like everything else he did apparently was so bad and not-good-enough...
“I bet he just... just hated it..”
starberrykinder:
“One of the maids was walking by with some trash, and I guess the crack is from when it fell out.” She puts her hands behind her back, afraid they’ll be smacked or something.
He heard the word trash and his expression fell even further. He doesn’t reply, just shifts to sit on the ground and stare at the item. “How did it...?” he doesn’t finish the question, just stares at it blankly. It seems like he already knew the answer.
starberrykinder:
“You mean this thing?” Licorice is holding said mug, which has a crack in it. Oh lord, why was she rooting around in trash?
“What happened to it!?” he practically snatches it-- not trying to be rude, he’s just obviously concerned about it.
“I made Father a mug today, I worked very hard on it. I bet he loved it.” you poor child.
starberrykinder:
“He’s my Daddy too, just like this is my room and my house.” With each ‘my’, she jumps on the bed. He should understand that her place and his place are different. “He is the Devil at my place. This place is what’s weird. It’s my home, but it’s not.”
Licorice is frustrated at being unable to explain things properly. The situation isn’t even clear to her. She flops down and waits to stop bouncing before continuing: “How about we just pretend that I’m from somewhere else, and you can tell me a little about yourself?”
“He’s not. Cause you’re not Venus and you’re not me!” He replied, shaking his head. “Daddy and Father have only ever been together, too! So you didn’t just come from nowhere!” these were his things and his house, she just came in suddenly claiming everything.
“Why should I? You’re mean.” he accused, huffing as he did and turning his eyes away from her, obviously pouting now.
filiianimarum:
glancing behind her she stares for a moment, as she took the item she found and whent back over to Lepus kneeling again and taking his arm, sighing softly and her eyes meet his
“I know you dont Lepus, but listen to me for a moment okay?” as she spoke she would put the burn cream on his arm “we should tell him, what if he finds out that you have this when it’s bath time or something? when he would see your arm he would be even more sad, but if we tell him now, then while yes he may be sad but he will also be proud of you that you did it no?”
“Mother loves us, if we are hurt, or have been before of course he would be upset, but he can also be glad that we are okay” tilting her head slightly to the side one of her ears flicks slightly “understand?”
He felt stupid when she put it like that, but he supposed that was normal. He really didn’t know much at all, and it always made him feel so small when someone corrected him with things that just... made more sense than what he was thinking.
“....okay.” he simply consented, keeping his eyes on his arm, then on the ground when he could not look there any longer. He didn’t understand how they all could just... be so okay with how sad everyone looked. It made him sad to know. He didn’t want to keep doing thing that upset the family, because they seemed to upset themselves enough.
