Comeback of the Swans 🦢 . . I grew up spending a lot of time with my grandmother. She is ... was ... no “is” my most favourite person. I love her the most as she loves me unconditionally. She was my father’s aunt and as she had no child of her own, had adopted my father. That didn't make any difference. Still the one who loved me the most! She wasn't doing very well for last few months. I kind of knew that she wasn't going to make it this time. Still I was thinking when she feels better I'll call her and talk about my childhood. Which with her was pretty much all about she insisting me to eat more, being concerned about my health and safety and bed time stories. . I thought I’ll ask her to retell this one particular story that I really really wanted to remember. It had a princess, her brothers had turned into swans, she knitted sweaters for them and they came flying to wear those sweaters to turn back into human. I had forgotten the details. Very recently and unexpectedly, on instagram I saw some paintings inspired by fables/fairytales. Among those, one had a sad princess, surrounded by swans. It was inspired by a story called the wild swans! I talked to the artist and confirmed that it was in fact a children's story inspired painting. How is that even possible!!! My daadi had spent her entire life in a tiny village in Bangladesh. How on earth this story got to her? And came back to me??? . . When I heard that my grand mother was on her death bed, I was thousands of miles away from her. She wasn’t really talking but I made a phone call to talk to her and she uttered my name...one last time. That’s it. She left. A little #commission with a big meaning behind it. I designed this #tattoo for a father who wanted to put his son's name on his body. His innitial plan was to put angel wings with the name. But I was hesitant about it as usually people so that for someone who has passed away. I asked about the name, it's origin and meaning as it was a very unusual name for me. He said it was Polynesian and it meant warrior prince. 😌 I researched a bit about #Polynesian culture and symbols. It was facinating and exciting to find out that every element of their tattoos meant something very significant. Victory, king, sea, family these were important elements to for the father I was doing this for. Hence I put the turtle shells, turtle 🐢(long life, fertility, family), shark teeth 🦈, spear head motif on the left arm of the turtle (warrior), God face, spear. While I was painting this one, I was listening to a song that I often hum without even realizing. I hate that song. This song evokes so much agitation and anger in me that it becomes difficult to not to stop listening to or singing it....but it also represents a time of faith, trust, belief, passion which I don't want to let go of. I have weird feelings about this song. I do. With no particular plan and a blank canvas in front of me, I started with touching the tubes of colors...the song was playing through my earplugs and I started seeing colors and patterns...light blue, titanium white, primary blue, crimson, medium magenta...which gradually started giving me headache and nausea. Especially the primary blue. There wasn't anything blue about the song anymore. I started adding other colors. And with every stroke of brush i covered my aggitation from those colors. I swear you can find them all if you scratch off the phthalocyanne blue, cadmium red, ivory black...and the gold had to be there. Because I believe no matter how wounded your heart is, love stories are golds forever. I'm so amazed by life right now that I am taking every moment into account and trying to figure out nothing. Life is unfolding itself to maybe another mysterious and unresolved chapter but I am letting it do it's own thing. I have no control over anything but how I feel and react to each incident. So I better not exhaust myself by trying to pull and push blocks to solve the puzzle. I'm using art as a sedative to numb my feelings for a better understanding of myself. If i keep feeling everything too much, I won't be able to actually know myself, love myself or just take good care of myself. Yes, feeling low, depressed, angry, hopeless all are real and we should embrace them. But not dwell in them. Cry. Scream. Curse (a little). Then just make a bowl of warm soup, in form of a book, a silly movie, a cup of tea, painting, poems, doing nothing, staring at the moon... do it for yourself... your precious and pure self.

In love with these evenings in my balcony. Summer is gradually fading away. Though everyone is still strolling in their shorts, I'm wearing a cardigan. I have my thick throw blanket on my lap and a big book full of short Bangla stories resting open on a cushion on top of that. I'm reading. Reading and sipping tea out of my flask lid/cap/cup thingy. This, my friend, for any lazy, good for nothing, hopeless romantic, daydreamer, over thinker, über sensitive, hyper emotional, low-key empath, infj, cancer woman's orgasmic trance kinda situation ☕
