alexios doesn't fully address the soldier boy in front of him for a few moments ... focusing on properly dressing the bruises and superficial wounds ( they'd leave no scars, though maybe that was unkind to say to a fellow SOLDIER ). after he's sure the bandages are secure, he looks up at zack, a settling of annoyance resting between his 'brows. "What were you thinking back there?"

maybe his tone is a bit cold, the end of it sharp as steel and with a matching edge. he's always had a silver tongue but no one asks where he uses it. a well sharpened blade can always cut, you know. "Yeah, you're fine, that's great and all. You're not badly hurt or even something we wouldn't have gotten over if you had hid it. But you just...!" he takes a breath.

he moves to stand up with a brief exhale. "I know you say it aloud, but I think you need to hear it from someone like you. You don't need to be a perfect SOLDIER anymore. You have a name. Act like it."

i love asking ff14 players how each of the major npcs would react to "a sweet young man, who said he knows who i am, but he just came into town today and no one recognizes his face". and apparently y'shtola would eventually get to a point and meteor lex... more than one time (loop wise).

"Well you're in luck. Cal' is making a pretty big meal, and there's no way we would have eaten it all by ourselves. They'd be happy to have a new friend, even though we're pretty notable mercs these days. C'mon." he turns to head back towards the heavily distracted group a short distance away, doing a little hithering gesture.

fun fact: regular / main verse alexios could actually freely interact with ff14 characters of all kinds. / due to the fact that the majority of final fantasy based worlds do exist in some capacity or overlap with the setting i've created, allowing things like descendants of spira to be able to wield keyblades, and the gaia highwind legacy to be the pioneers of space travel and have their names on everything related to in in some way. as such, the sad part of this is when lex began visiting eorzea out of curiosity, he began learning as uch as he could. befriended those he could. saved who he could manage without disrupting world order. and eventually he knew so much - too much to be friendly. even when the world eventually learned of "chosen from beyond the stars" (otherworldly visitors), lex was always just ... a little too in the know. and no one would believe when he said "we've met bet, we were friends once".

just as a reminder, while arthur and alexios are always the default "romantic pining" if there is no other ship planned or building by accident, arthur's actually so chill in most normal non-timeloop settings if someone else wants to court lex. he's just going to be the stand-in shovel talk lite person until they get to REAL shovel talk levels with uh, his parents.
