ARTIST INSPIRATION

Artforum Magazines Carved into Dripping Waves of Colour  

San Francisco-based artist Francesca Pastine created beautiful, dripping topographies from the colourful pages.

Pastine cut each magazine layer by layer with an X-acto blade to reveal narrow bands of the pages within, interacting directly with art printed on the covers to create new hybrid artwork she refers to as “unsolicited collaborations”.

Visual representation: 3rd Stage of Spiritual Enlightenment

As you enter the third and final stage of spiritual enlightenment, you no longer feel connected to everything but realise you are everything.  You feel a direct experience of oneness and the sensation of wholeness, as you are not separate from anything in the universe.

In contemporary society, technology is everything, and the visual process of the Photoshop collage emphasises this. The background street map, as well as the human eye symbolises a window to the human mind and soul against the surrounding warped map of the Internet represents the paradox between the virtual mind of our digital age and the physical journey of spiritual enlightenment. This contrast is also expressed through colour, with the blue shade against the black and white palette releasing the emotional calmness of meditation. The montage of the spiritual symbol Om – embodies anything that represents the divine to you. Holding Ubikcan qualities, the symbol undermines any clear sense of reality vs. non-reality, representing a higher power and its connection to each of us. The compilation of the computer-generated text is an example of the appropriation, re-contextualisation and uncreativity, as a prominent example of contemporary conceptual process.

Finally Finished

The second stage of enlightenment gives you the sensation of feeling apart of yourself and everything around you. You feel a deep connection with every object and individual in the world. The divides between you and the world disappear. You are no longer an individual, you are not separate from anything. You are one, You are now apart of something bigger but yet you want to explore it further.

  In order to capture the essences of the second stage of enlightenment I have created a cloud like “void” structure, symbolic of the mind and sole. The colour as well as the use of texture represents every object and individual as they unite together. The merging of different ideas and different groups of people, as they descend into nothingness. The cutting process was done by holding the foam core in the air, giving it rough spontaneous look. They hang alone, separated, although trying to bring themselves closer. What is the space between them… Is it nothing or is it everything. The use of a void as a visual representation into nothingness.

Three Stages of Enlightenment

The first stage of spiritual enlightenment

At the very first level of enlightenment, the individual starts experiencing reality as it is. It means that your mind ceases to interfere with what you are experiencing.  We are engaged in continuous talk, gossip, analyzing the environment around us, planning about future, or worrying about the past.  When you are in a state of spiritual enlightenment you are completely in the present moment.  You stop judging and labeling the world.  Your mind is calm, quite and still. You are very awake, and aware of the current moment right now. The second stage of spiritual enlightenment

At the second stage of enlightenment, you feel apart of yourself in everything around you. You feel  a connection with every object and individual in the world. The borders between yourself and the world around you dissipate. Your soul begins to merge with Supreme Soul. You feel that you are not individual anymore and not separate from anything. You feel that you are in everything and everything is just a part of the Supreme Soul from where you also have emerged. Many people describe this feelings of completeness and love.

The third stage of spiritual enlightenment

The third stage of enlightenment, you no longer feel connected to everything but realize you are everything.  You the experience the oneness of God and are not separate from anything in the universe. This stage of enlightenment is a direct experience of oneness.
