Iām going to be purging this account/rebooting it. So if Iāve been slow to answer you, this is why.Ā (It's also why I haven't been active in the past week. )
Iāll be unfollowing inactive accounts, people who I donāt have threads with, and anyone who doesnāt respond on IM/dropped threads.Ā To see if someone isn't a mutual, you can always use "friendorfollow.com". Not entirely sure if everyone knows about that.
With that being said, if I unfollowed you, it couldnāt have been a major loss.
Zatanna nodded, taking his word. Hopefully there would be or the atmosphere was going to get seriously awkward.Ā
She patted her tour bus, looking over at Lee hesitantly,Ā āAre we driving or is it close enough to walk?ā
Zatanna beamed as the red-cladded man approached. āThen youāve come to the right place!ā Putting on her best show girl attitude, she continued, āIām Zatanna Zatara, the Mistress of Magic and the best performer youāll ever witness.ā Why the masked man appeared didnāt matter to her; he clearly wasnāt a pedestrianāno one here wasāand while he likely held ulterior motives, Zatanna was content to perform simple spell work for profit. They were standing in a dark-magic circuit, a common place for superhumans to wander about. Some came for intel, others for recruits, but an overwhelming amount came to buy products. A man dressed in a red, atypical costume approached the magician. He carried an air of laughter about him, and was far too cheerful for the atmosphere they were in. Nonetheless, the magician had given him a warm smile. How strange, she thought.Ā
Zatanna scrunched up her nose, feeling a tad awkward about her next reply.Ā
āActually,ā she started, āIām a vegetarian. So, no bacon for me.ā
The magician worked with far too many animals in her shows to feel comfortable with that proposal.
āBut as long as theyāve got nice coffee, Iām in.ā Sheād worry about getting him to let her pay the bill later.
The boy responded quickly, with notable suave and intelligence in his reply.
It's not to say Zatanna wasn't expecting that, but nonetheless, she arched an eyebrow as he spoke.
'Where in the world was Bruce finding all these able-minded kids?,' she thought.
"You're certainly one of his, aren't you?" She gave a soft smirk as she spoke, and placed a hand on her hip. She was, of course, referring to Batman.
As the boy shook her hand, Zatanna couldn't help but warm up. The boy was genuine, and despite all the training he must have undergone, still held a particular radiance in his demeanor.
"I wouldn't worry about letting me down," She said, letting his hand go, "I'd worry about more important things, like the city. It certainly needs you."
After a short pause, she added, "Does the Bat have you on any current mission?"
She had to admit, she was curious. Robins were the only sidekicks, she felt, that were given any real responsibility.
Zatanna watched Batman stock up his utility belt, and couldn't help but imagine how devastating the scene was going to be. Even if it wasn't the Joker, Mr. Freeze and freed inmates wasn't exactly a stroll through the park.
She arched an eyebrow at the Joker comment, but chose not to question. Zatanna knew this man well enough to be able to fill in the details. She gave a delicate sigh, following him to the Batmobile.
Once inside the vehicle, she ran a hand over the exterior of the seat, finding it to be too cool for her liking. "Taeh," she lightly breathed, heating her seat up to a comfortable degree. Who's needs controls when you have magic? Ā
Nodding as Batman spoke, Zatanna stared straight ahead, a smile resting on her features. While she prided herself on her stage performances, having the ability to join real scenes like this was something she'd never give up.
As for his proposal, Zatanna accepted in her own way.
"Well, only if it's my favorite." She said.
And with that, Zatanna, with a healthy dose of thrill and anxiety, waited to see tonight's crime scene.
Zatanna gave an exaggerated smile to the woman's question,
"Yup, mine."
She adjusted her hat before offering a gloved hand to the woman, "I'm Zatanna Zatara, traveling magician. Welcome to Gotham."
She wanted to add in, "Hopefully your stay won't be too messy." But decided against it.
Zatanna closed the back doors on her bus, happy that all the hauling was done and over with.
At Lee's reply, she laughed, before flashing a bright smile.
"If that's the case, how about you show me one of your favorite places? I'll pay. It's the least I can do for all your help."
[ Sorry I took so long, also Iām not going to directly @ mention anyone because this isnāt personalized to just one roleplayer. ]ā: Any RPers the Mun admires.I havenāt had this account for that long and havenāt been exposed to many new roleplayers (and donāt want to mention all old ones), but I think Iāve met 5 really solid ones. Safe to say that the people Iām going to mention are my favorite portrayal ofĀ their character.
Rpers I donāt roleplay with but love: 1. Spider-adjacent will always be my number 1. Heās very established and roleplays all formats. Iāve adored his threads long before I ever even thought of making this account. He has adorable ships going on currently (strongly suggest you stalk them) and the theme song to his page is the most jamming Iāve ever heard. The mun is the sweetest Iāve met so far and uses cute emoticons, so thereās that too. 2. Parkersmind is an old Spider-Man rper under a new account. He does para roleplays and makes custom starters. I think his muse is very honed in and I enjoy seeing his shenanigans. His whole account seems to be based on āHow uncomfortable can I make this situation?ā Mun is great to complain to about things completely unrelated to roleplaying, despite sending me the creepiest of things.3. Thegoof is an account that acts out the blog of Bart Allen. He does normal roleplays as well, semi-para from what Iāve seen. Heās hilarious and is extremely clever with his jokes. He makes TONS of references throughout his rps and makes me jealous of his innate wit. Mun is very smart, respectful and down to chat about anything.
Rpers I do roleplay with and love:4. Leeurbaneverett is the MOST consistent Iāve ever seen. The guy must be producing 60 replies a day, itās that crazy. I have nothing but respect for the mun. Theyāre very dedicated and remain interesting/creative throughout it all. They roleplay all formats and never seem to run out of icons. I donāt know the mun personally, but they have always been considerate and kind to me in the tags. 5. Thedarkknightcrusader is Batman. Just is. His muse is crazy and one of the most well-written Iāve found. He has other roleplay accounts as well, which just adds to the crazy. He does para roleplays and script roleplays, but I highly recommend getting him to do a para with you. You wonāt regret it. Mun is a good friend and someone I value speaking with. Heās polite and very open.
[I procrastinated long enough ā Also, I LOVE Munday]
ā: An OTP with your Muse in it (if you have any).ā: A NOTP with your Muse in it (if you have any).
Iām pretty optimistic about most canon ships. Zee with Nick Necro, John Constantine, Bruce Wayne, that random guy she met while performing that Constantine scared away, itās all cool with me. Really interested in the Nick Necro ship because it doesnāt make any sense to me. As for non canon ships, Iād like to say Iām pretty open for anything except for
Generational gaps. Thereās a lot of ways to get around this, and Iām fine with that, but if youāre just going to tell me that Zatanna and Damian Wayne would be cute together then I am 100% out. Because I read select comics of Zee before I saw her on TV, the huge fanbase for Zatanna and Grayson has always made me really uncomfortable. Even with age explanations, I donāt think Iād be down for shipping Zee with anyone who was a former Robin. It just feels creepy.
His answers came quickly, offering her the comfort she needed.
She briefly thought of her father and his love for the rising movie magic. She wished she could hold the same fondness, perhaps even move with the times like he did.
Taking Batman's advice seemed like a good start.
"Social media?" Her voice came out doubtful, even though she had found his solution to be perfect. "I'll give it a go. Who can resist Zatanna Zatara coming at them in 140 characters or less?" She joked, watching as Batman suddenly made his way towards his weapon table.
That was never a good sign.Ā What exactly had the magician walked in on? She looked back at the monitor, wondering if her visit was delaying help the city needed. Whatever the situation was, Zatanna was ready to follow Batman there. Her abilities could aid against this issue, or at the very least, offer some guidance to the solution.Ā
She slid off the desk, walking up behind the dark knight. "Don't tell me our chat's already being cut short?" The magician placed a hand lightly on his arm, observing the weapons laid out before them. "What's it this time? The joker blew up a bank?" For once, she wasn't even trying to joke.
"Did you think I had eidetic memory?"
The magician was on her knees, picking up dozens of flash cards from the ground. On a late Sunday, all Zatanna wanted to do was listen to The Strokes and practice her magic. Why did anyone have to exist this Sunday?
She vaguely remembered 'the announcement' this morning, a new restaurant dubbed "The Cheesy Mouse" was opening. The advertisement was clearly a scam, some rip-off of Chuck E. Cheese. The mascot looked eerily similar to one of Wonder Woman's villains. She remembered hearing the excitement from the others, whom she referred to as 'The Food Clique'.
Zatanna, looking forward to her Sunday and knowing she wouldn't be heard anyway, exited the room and decided she wasn't coming to anyone's rescue when their restaurant visit backfired.
If only she knew that morning that The Cheesy Mouse would be her downfall.
Bart Allen.
Registered Speedster and newly-recruited Cheesy Mouse enthusiast.
Zatanna was surprised when he flew through the hallway, likely on his way to the rest of The Food Clique. She was surprised when he didn't notice her existence, his arm crashing into her form with the resilience of a typhoon. She was surprised as her flash cards spiraled through the air, creating their own whirlwind around them. She wasn't surprised when Bart saved his box of food over her belongings.
She wasn't angry, as long as he didn't attempt to help her pick the---
"Don't touch anything!"
Organized. They were all organized. Precise, much-needed phrases at the top, followed by simple, most used phrases. Ending with uncommon-easy and uncommon-precise.
Zatanna barely heard his questions, focusing on her cards instead. She saw him lifting a single card up, reading it casually, speaking.
She decided then that Speedsters were her least favorite. After imps from hell and John Constantine, of course.
He repeated the same question. She didn't listen either time, only catching key words. Something about her cards. Why did she have them?
"Did you think I had eidetic memory?"
All the cards gathered in her hands, Zatanna needed a fast remedy to her annoyance. Before she did something that was only temporarily fun. Erif, traB.
'What's one nice thing out of this?', she thought to herself. 'I can update the cards to my current needs'.
Holding on to that thought, Zatanna decided Bart Allen deserved to live another day.
She propped herself up against the wall, sitting with her knees raised high, shuffling the various flash cards.
The speedster was still there.
She glanced up, her demeanor changing, "Not as powerful as you thought, huh? It doesn't come naturally to me, I have to keep memorizing my phrases. Some of them are pretty tricky."
Holding a basic card in her hands, Zatanna suddenly felt a wave of sadness. It was one of her most used, and one of the very first her father ever showed her.
Em, laeh.
"My dad," She started speaking again, unsure of why she wanted to share this information with Bart, "always told me to practice. That every magician had to. That only amateurs thought they could get by without it."
Smiling, the magician placed 'Em, laeh' on top, "It's funny, I don't think dad ever had to use flash cards. I think he just knew."
Whether she meant he knew she needed to hear that, or that he innately knew spells, even she wasn't sure.
Zatanna walked towards the bus, dropping the box in the back. She was taken back by how easily Lee was completing the task, but she had no complaints. She vaguely wondered if she should offer him money.Ā
āIt seems like a great area. Peaceful. Any good spots to go to?ā
[Ā This is absolute nonsense/garbage. Donāt read this. ]
A million questions circulated in the magician's head.
How did she fall into an alternative dimension, equipped with superheros much like those from her own?
How did she managed to find herself captured, bounded by rope that eliminated the use of magic?
Most importantly, how did she find herself stuck with--literally--a new superhero dressed in a what she could only imagine was a zentai suit? With no sure way on escaping the situation, she looked straight ahead and asked, "Have any ideas?"
He didn't. New superheros were not Zatanna's favorite, and it'd be lying to say she didn't think they were annoyances.
This kid was definitely anxiety-ridden, his whole attitude appeared on edge. Caged up. Not fully understanding the boy's powers--What the hell did a guy in a red zentai suit do?--, Zatanna decided to play it safe and comfort him.
"Hey, look, kid. I know a few card tricks, usually they're pretty useful in these situations, but given the circumstances---" Zatanna droned on, unsure if the boy even knew magic couldn't be used here. Finally, she said, "Look, tell me a card you're thinking of."
After the boy gave his response, "Anything but The Red Queen," which was slightly odd but she didn't question, Zatanna pulled the queen of hearts card out of her sleeve, the card falling onto her lap due to the restraints.
With the kid declaring, "Guess it isn't my day. How about a rabbit now? You know I fought one of those before?" And laughing at his own jokes, Zatanna found she liked him better when he wasn't speaking.
"Find a way for us to get out of here, without all the nonsense, and I'll marry you." She said, wondering how long this would last. Ā
[ This is all Iām doing with this. I tried to include some Marvel references and avoid making this drabble as insane as I imagine you wanted it to be. ]Ā
