Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto is quoted in Undertale's genocide route as the "check" text for the Royal Guards.

Of course, I was young and didn't quite understand what the reference was, but a few years later I coincidentally picked up Kitchen and thoroughly enjoyed it. The themes of the story heavily paralleled Chara, and in my opinion after reintroducing myself to the book again for this, Deltarune as a whole. Of course, alongside all the Undertale references in Chapter 5, this was the only logical outcome.

The excerpt in the caption comes from the same place in the book Undertale references, page 66, with gendered language adjusted to fit our subjects.
