"I really mean it." she told the gym leader in front of her, the brunettes eyes focusing unto him. "It’s beautiful. So peaceful. Violet city has it’s own charm no one can beat it at that." she told him honestly. The former champion of her region smiled and twirled around once. "It reminds me of the white forest in my region." she told Falkner. Dunsparce? What was that again? She couldn’t remember right now.
"How does a Dunsparce look like? Sorry.. it’s just that I arrived a few days ago here in Johto and don’t know much yet about pokemon. There are so many in this region that are considered rare in Unova after all."
"Its charm?" He rolled the word across his tongue, pondering over her sentiments. It was a genuine comment as ever - and he couldn't agree more with it. "I think that's probably the best way to describe what's nice about it, actually. Thank you." He neglected to mention the fact that he was unfamiliar with the White Forest she had referred to for the sake of foregoing an explanation of Unova from the trainer.
"Oh, Dunsparce?" He couldn't help but glance in the direction of the route housing the particular cave they were known to originate from. "It's a yellow and blue worm. It has, uh, wings and a drill and it's about this big," he attempted to explain, hands moving to gesture exactly how large the Pokémon were. "They're strange."
“Alright—I’ll look for something I can do quickly then.” He didn’t want to run the risk of having to use Litwick as a means of cooking. Especially with a storm going on—Morty prayed it’d end soon enough.
“Heating? Well, we have litwick…since the power is out, it’ll start getting colder soon. I have a lot of blankets though…" He trailed off, trying to think of the best place to be in the house in this state. "I could turn on the oven and it’ll keep it a little warm.”
"I'd been hoping you had some other kind of heating," he grumbled, eyes drifting over to glance at the candles. Things were getting worse by the minute - maybe even by the second. The Violet leader, much like his own Pokémon, couldn't stand the cold. Of course, there were the suggestions the other leader had proposed, but with the luck he'd had thus far, Falkner wasn't sure if they'd work out in the end.
"...but the oven sounds better than nothing." He'd take what he could get, really. In hindsight, it would have been a much brighter idea to have kept his Talonflame with him in case something like this happened, but how could he have predicted this? What a terrible situation; if only he'd been a little more careful...
(tfw ur hit w muse but ur internet is So Bad)
“Right…" Steven mumbled. He then gave a bow with the repeat of, "My apologies." This guy was almost as grumpy as Colress… But he dismissed the thought, it replaced with another one. Wasn’t the area supposed to be closed off?
“Can I ask you what you’re doing here, though? This flight is closed.”
"Yeah," he huffed, eyes skimming over the scene once more. It was an awful lot more vacant than he'd expected, aside from whoever this person he was chatting with was. Airport security wasn't quite as terrible as he'd always imagined.
"That's why I'm here. I should really be getting back to work, too."

Having found some time to get away from the league, Koga had taken a break, even traveling into Johto a bit. Now in Violet city, he sat on a bench, enjoying the clean atmosphere. It reminded him of Fuchsia city, in a way. He was calm, despite the odd looks he earned from the residents, probably questioning why he was here and not awaiting challengers.
It was to be assumed that his usual walk through Violet City, running a couple errands, would be as uneventful as it always was. However, today, something caught the gym leader's eye.
Was that who he thought it was?
Falkner stopped as he glanced over his shoulder at the person that had sparked his interest. It seemed that his eyes hadn't been failing him; there in his own city was none other than Koga. Although he wasn't especially fond of the man, his curiosity was getting the best of him and he turned to walk over.
"Uh, hello. What brings you to Violet City?"
Gengar blinked up at him. Well, now he wanted to torture the poor fool. Never show you’re scared in front of a ghost kid. Rule number one when dealing with ghost types.
’Moron.’
Gengar thought sourly to himself before standing up and shaking out his fur and tail. He picked up all the berries had snagged and grinned. Gengar cackled and threw the berries at the blue haired weirdo.
The man's eyes were trained on the beast, only taking his sight off of the Shadow Pokémon in the moment that he flinched. It hadn't hurt or anything but the action had startled him nonetheless. Naturally, he was on edge around the thing and just about everything had the potential to make him jump now.
"I- I'm just going to leave," he announced in a shaky voice, taking a few hesitant steps backward. Had he managed to provoke it? He certainly hoped not - and if he had then he had absolutely no idea on how to deal with whatever the consequences were.

Looking over at Falkner with what he hoped would come across as an innocent expression, Morty blinked owlishly. Maybe looking like a Noctowl would get him bonus points of some sort with whatever deity was supposed to be watching over him.
"I…adjusted..?" Well, it wasn’t a complete lie…but whether or not Falkner would push it was another matter entirely.
It wasn’t his fault that cuddling with the other Gym Leader was so comfortable, and his hand was already so close in the first place, so he hadn’t expected Falkner to notice. Okay, that was a lie; he knew Falkner would notice, but he hadn’t expected him to say anything. Sure, the majority of Morty’s efforts to get Falkner to notice his interest were falling flatter than a Stunfisk, but he wasn’t ready to just give up as of yet.
There it was, the attention from the other gym leader, and that look. Falkner had been mad - he still was - but there was something about that look that Morty was giving him. For a moment, he was completely distracted by how damned cute he was--
No, he'd had something to complain about, hadn't he? After all, Morty couldn't just be forgiven of his obscenity by being good-looking. As well, Falkner could never admit to such either, so it was back to whatever lecture he was about to give. "Adjusted...?" A frown crossed his features, shifting slightly to shoot a glare at where the other man's hand now rested.
"You're sure?" Of course, why would he have done what he thought he did? Was this another pitying act? Perhaps "pity" wasn't exactly the right word, but... what did he have to gain, even? Maybe he was just imagining it. Fantastic, now he was doubting himself too. Shaking off the thought, he continued with a huff. "I don't know why you did that, but I know you did." He was at least going to say it like he was certain. "Uh, I-- don't do it again."
He couldn't even bring himself to properly scold him. He really was hopeless.

33. "You’re the nastiest person I know."
He paused after his rather blunt statement, staring up at the other man. Had he really meant it? Well, he didn't want to hurt Morty's feelings, but... some of the things he'd said in that last game of cards with the group... "I'd thought it was Whitney or Bugsy, but I'm not really sure anymore."
