The latest issue I am drawing calls for quite a few pages with Fluttershy’s brother, Zephyr Breeze. So here i am, monitors full of his pictures for reference and I am thinking: “Man, that’s rather voluminous manbun… it must pack a lot of mane in it” and then it hits me: Zephyr’s a god damn trap. that’s why the long mane and tail, that’s why the lanky effeminate appearance and thick lashes.

So I make a silly mention of it on my discord and it comes up Leech “likes” Zephyr. my natural reaction is of course “you poor man, there’s so little content drawn of your waifu, let me take a moment of my busy day to fix this tragic oversight”.

I actually really liked how the MLP staff handled Zephyr Breeze.

They subverted the “self-centered moocher” trope by having a twist reveal that his narcissistic tendencies and apparent laziness was actually him covering for deep insecurities and fears.

Mainly a cripplingly amount of self-doubt and fear of failure that often kept him trying in the first place.

I can relate to that a lot.
