Today was my first struggle day on the slow carb diet (I wrote about it on my blog if you are interested. Link in profile). I ended up fighting through the cravings and having my healthy, low carb meal. Sirloin steak topped with onions and mushrooms with squash and zucchini on the side. And water. Carb flu?
Uuuuuuuuugh! So it's day 4 of the slow carb diet and I am feel.ing.it! Ok so I'm down 6.8 lbs since I started. That's awesome and I already can tell a difference in my clothes. But, that's just water weight (mostly) and now starts the real work. I also stopped drinking wine when I started this diet. Have I mentioned I have pms? So I am a reeeeeeeeal fun person right now! Haha
What I WANT for dinner is...hmmm I'm not really craving anything in particular. Something sweet and some sort of bread? Pizza crust, but not pizza. And wine. Mama wants some wine. I told myself that I wouldn't have any during week 1 of the slow carb diet (1-2 glasses a night is allowed but I wanted to really flush my system with water). Like a dog and a bone. I don't want it until it's taken away.
That's a lie. I love wine. I will always take a glass.
Aaaaaaanyway. So yea. I'm not feeling like myself. There is such a thing as "carb flu" that apparently some get when they haven't had carbs. It makes you cranky and angry and feel like crap. So is it all just that?
While I WANT to cheat tonight and have an old favorite and some wine for dinner, I am going to cook steak w mushrooms and onion and a side of squash and zucchini on the side instead. With water. I know I will thank myself later.
These 6.8 lbs off my body are already thanking me.
