your answer was... awesome and now i'm really curious about the whole setting of your story ragnarok! could you please elaborate on it some more? i'm aware it's probably a lot of writing so no pressure 💘 in the future i'm going to ask about Derek and Jon, too, if that's ok with you. you write really well!
Darling this literally makes me so happy, please please ask everything you want to know!
The world is set in another dimension that is called rivheim/riveheim (ah I forgot the spelling damn me).
The main mythology that will be present is Germanic/Nordic mythology (so thor and Odin etc but these two won’t be the focus). But in general every mythology exists. Every mythical being, every gods, basically everything. Of course what you will find depends on where you are.
The gods are a difficult thing. They take care of those that believe in them. So if you believe in the Christian god, he will care for you and he will be your only god and all the stuff that is promised to happen in the afterlife etc will happen for you. If you believe in the Nordic gods they will take care of you and when you die you will either go to hel, Valhalla or rel. So basically what you believe in is important but you can believe in everything because everything exists simultaneously. This is also why there is the city of gods where there is a temple for every god imaginable. (This is where Helena and Olivia are from, remember?)
There’s five big cities and the city of gods is one of them. These five city live I harmony and are very dependant on each other (and the smaller towns around them). Because in the city of god everyone is devoted to serving the gods as taking care of the temples etc. So a lot of the people from the nearby villages or towns are working to produce food. One of the cities is also known for their food. (The city of creators from where helija is is also one of these five cities.)
The entire continent is shaped in the form of a Star with five tips. This is because the dimension was not made naturally, rather created by five cosmic beings (I can elaborate on that if you want to. They play a pretty big role overall lmao.) The Star is “naturally” divided into six parts. The mainland and then the five tips. Each of the tips kind of “belongs” to one cosmic being and kind of is modeled after them in the way the climate is. The mainland is neutral ground.
The actual story takes place when helija gets to her “rite of maturity” (I have a better name but it’s somewhere in my notes and I can’t find it right now). The Xi are from the way they are a little bit like the Jedi order i guess. That might help you imagine it. Xi are almost always blessed when they are children and most of the time they don’t remember it or they don’t realise that they were blessed. To be blessed you meet a god and talk with them before they bless you. Being blessed can happen in many different ways, many of them really subtle so that you don’t even notice. A blessing does not have to come with a gift, but sometimes it does. There’s very very few people who have been blessed by more than one god, but it’s not impossible that that happens. Because a lot of people don’t know they were blessed and became Xi, there is such a thing as “scouts” that identify Xi and bring them to well trainers I guess? I don’t have a fitting name for them yet. There they train until the time has come for their rite of maturity. Most of the times that’s when you’re 16, but it doesn’t have to be. Helija is 16 when that happens though. She goes to her rite of maturity and meets Helena who looks identical to her. Both of them are confused obviously. There they also meet Sam, hector, jack, Olivia and probably leanca. (Some of them knew each other already. Also if you were wondering Elahir has already completed his one year early. I’m not sure if Leanca has too or not. We’ll see.) I can definitely elaborate on the rite too.
But then at some point we get to a very complicated villain story and they basically have to save the world.
Thank you so much for that ask!
