*GLOMP*
WELL THA T WAS FAST
Peeks in. Mayhap a friend or two have convinced me to hop back on. We’ll see how it turns out.
kvlpa:
Blade is tossed to the ground with little care as to where it lands as Nathaniel stretches his arms out overhead; leaning side to side slightly in an attempt to work out the ache in his torso, a quiet groan accompanying the movement as stiff muscles protest. It’s a moment before he answers Severa’s question, but when he does his voice sounds almost as tired as hers.
❝ You can say that again. I could go for a good year-long nap after that, I think, ❞ he says as he lowers his arms. A hand yanks the tie out of his hair, letting crimson strands fall loose around his shoulders with the ones that had already come free during their rather rigorous training efforts, and with a yawn of his own he sits on the ground. He leans back on his hands and laughs when his sister complains, shaking his head and letting his eyes roll skyward.
❝ Hey, we all knew I’d end up being taller than you and Lucina one day - it just happened to come sooner than we thought. Well, sort of, ❞ he breaks off with another laugh. ❝ It’d depend on who you asked, I suppose. Felt like forever to me. ❞
“ Oh, a nap sounds really good right now. ” She let out a weak groan and took a seat next to him, though it was more like she had bent down and let herself fall the rest of the way. A wave of exhaustion hit her the moment she’d settled down, leading her to lean against her brother for a moment. It was a t e r r i b l e idea-- they were both sweaty and all warm from the training-- but she was too tired to care. His response however had roused her enough to sit back up and shoot him a look of mock offense. “ You little-- ! You wanna die, don’t you ? ”
Through a round of laughter she’d given him a shove, hoping it’d be enough to knock him over. Really, the height difference didn’t actually bother her... Okay, maybe a little. She'd hoped to hold that over him at least a few years more. “ Just wait until I tell Lucy. We’re so gonna kick your ass next time we train. ”
But the mention of those years between then and now brought a momentary pause. Unlike Laurent, he was family. The affect was more direct. “ Forever or not, at least we’re all here now right? That’s good enough for me-- even if my baby brother is a little jerk now. ”

It was as cold a night as any in the weathered castle and Severa had taken it upon herself to cover the guard shift once again. She’d slept all of two hours before an ever pleasant and familiar nightmare had roused her, but this was n o t h i n g new. With little more than a sigh, a glass of water, and a quick fix-up of her appearance she’d taken up her sword and relieved the previous guard of their station. They had grown accustomed to her persistence in doing so but on occasion still took the chance of insisting she return to bed. Needless to say, the girl never listened and always won out. Now she sat in the window, back leaned against the arch of it as she looked out at the castle grounds.
She’d just let out a sigh when the sound of faint footsteps caught her attention-- prompting her to q u i c k l y rise and move a hand to her sword. Her stance relaxed, however, at the sight of the princess entering the hallway. “ Lucina, what are you doing awake ? I thought you went to sleep hours ago. ”

Luka chuckled, scratching the back of his head. “I’m sorry. I got confused because where I’m from, only people who have received the blessing of a Goddess can call themselves a Hero.”
“But, ever since the only Goddess we worshiped was struck from The Heavens, the tradition doesn’t apply anymore. I’m just so used to being called ‘Fake Hero’ because I wasn’t baptized that I kinda tripped over my words.”
Luka took a deep breath and nodded. “But, yes! I am Luka, a Hero!”
He didn’t look like much, he was rather short, and his young appearance was more than enough to give most people doubts. Yet he stood confidently, and a sword was sheathed at his side.
A subtle, yet powerful, aura emanated off him, and it was clear that despite his looks, he wasn’t just some random kid.
After he had introduced himself, properly this time, he decided to return to the subject at hand. “As for not wanting to camp, I can understand that. I’ve been camping ever since I set out on this journey. Your currency is…rather different, compared to my homelands. I couldn’t afford an Inn if I knew where to find one.”
Even if it all sounded strange to her, Severa listened to every word. A goddess and her blessing... It almost seemed as if just anyone could become a hero in that case. Certainly that couldn’t wasn’t the case, but it still bothered her a bit. “ I see... ” Opting not to question him any further for the moment, she simply took his word for it. Though it still nagged her just what work Luka had done to pronounce himself a hero. He didn’t really look any older than her and while age didn’t define a hero, it wasn’t as if her upbringing was a n o r m a l one either.
“ Huh, our currency ? Do you not use gold where you’re from ? ” Now that was an interesting bit. She’d traveled many places and across a few continents and never had currency been an issue. Did that mean they used some other coin or f u r s even ? Ugh, wait a second. None of this really mattered. The sun was setting soon and she wanted to find an inn before then. Though camping was sounding all the more likely now after all.
“ Actually, now isn’t the time for stories. You said you didn’t know where an inn was, right ? Guess I’ll just find it myself then. Thanks. ”
ask-captain-faris:
Faris herself had just paid the barkeep, having taken a good while to convince him that the coins she gave him were the same weight and metallurgy despite the foreign stamp, and was on her way out when she’d bumped into what she’d initially assumed to perhaps be one of the younger patrons.
“Ah don’t worry yourself, it happens from time to time.” The Captain said to the young lady, thinking that she’d also been trying to navigate her way through the rowdier folk that were there. “I was just heading out myself, my crew need their Captain after all. Say, that’s a rather interesting blade you have, interested in some side work?” the Pirate offered, recognizing the garb as similar to something a mercenary would wear…even if she was clearly not from the same world. “I can guarantee that the pay’ll be decent, and you’ll have safe, discrete transportation anywhere you need to go, no questions asked.”
Call it poor manners, but Severa had almost walked right on after apologizing. Too many times had she witnessed fights break out over such a trivial thing. ( A few unfortunate times had even involved herself ). But she was quick to stop and hang back as the other went on, turning a surprised eye to actually take in just who she had bumped into. “ Captain... ? ” she quietly repeated. While their attire wasn’t anything she had quite seen before, there was no doubt they certainly had to hold such a rank.
Snapping out of her wonder, Severa cleared her throat and glanced toward the blade in question. “ Ah, depends what the work is. I’d rather not use it to k i l l if I can avoid it. ”
‘ I’ve seen too much blood for now ’, she refrained from adding. The offer was extremely tempting-- more for the journey than the pay. Even though the Captain was a complete stranger, Severa was strong enough to hold her own if there was any danger. And nothing ventured was nothing but r e g r e t later. “ What would I be getting into and where would it be going ? ”
Just to be clear -

neko-shadow:
Most of the time, Shadow really couldn’t see the point about getting bothered by things. Some things did irritate him, but he tended to get more done by at least giving the appearance that he didn’t really care than kicking up a fuss, which usually just ended up causing more trouble.
“Well… it’s happened…” He paused to think. “…Maybe three times in the last year? It’s fine though. I learnt to pick locks when I was younger when I was trying to impress a girl I liked.” He paused again, before giving a small smirk. “Technically, you are a girl, and I like you at least as a friend… are you impressed~?” He teased, smirking a little, one of his neko ears giving a small flick.
“ Wha-- ? Ugh, no ! Not at all. In fact, I’d say it’s the complete opposite of impressive. ” Shaking her head she returned to searching for a paper clip. Really, given all the packets these professors liked to hand out, one would think there’d be at least one. Oh... Maybe they were in the other zipper. “ There’s nothing appealing about a guy that forgets his key and has to break back into his own place. On top of that, she might just think you’re some kind of t h i e f-- there it is ! ”
Right at the bottom of the bag had been a stray paper clip. She could’ve sworn she had a small box full of them but... oh well. Maybe they were left on her desk that morning-- after all you n e v e r have what you need when the time comes. “ Here, take it. I’ll at least stick around long enough to make sure you get back inside. ”
dragonknightsworn:
“Well I’m not saying we didn’t. I’m only meant that’s where I sent most of my time” Kirito only shrugged at her comment, and focused on his cooking. Setting aside the peeled potatoes,he flipped the meat so the other side was cooking. Then he placed them in some salted water to boil. Kirito only able to read the second part of her sentence looked at his sister confused. “I”m afraid I don’t know what you mean? Get use to what? Acting like a soldier. I guess so. Or at least that’s what Jolt says at times,”
She only nodded in response, allowing those younger years to surface just for a moment. They’d all had their time training, but hers had been d i v i d e d between that and various other skills. Cooking, sewing, basic medical care, etc. She wanted to make up for anything they might’ve lacked-- though that didn’t mean her sword skills fell behind in the slightest either. “ Fair enough. I guess I did kinda run around a lot, huh ? ”
At his question though, she merely laughed and brushed the matter aside. “ It’s nothing. Whatever. ” Rather than remain seated at the table, she opted to change location and perched herself atop the counter next to him. “ Just know that sis will always be here when you two are too caught up being soldiers to make a good meal. So how’s it looking ? ”
dragonknightsworn:
Kirito continued to cut the meat until he had them all cut enough. Once he did he set the meat aside, and let them work. While he waited for the meat to cook, he started to peel the potatoes. “Well its not like I mean not to cook. I helped when I had the time to. I just was usually busy with other things you know,” Kirito turned around, and catch what Severa was saying. He kept one eye on the meat, and the other eye in front of him. “I mean you spent some time training with dad as well didn’t you,”
“ Well duh, of course I did ! It’s not like we could afford not to. ” Though the latter half was mumbled and merely a side-comment, she pushed forward. Now was n o t the time to dwell on those things. Instead she shrugged and turned attention to her nails, inspecting them each and taking notice of the newly chipped ones. Looks like she’d have to file them later on.
“ But it’s not like I even learned all of that from mom or dad. We all kinda learned stuff down the line. Admit it, you just got used to it, didn’t you ? ” She turned back to him with a grin, almost as if challenging him to deny it.
She didn’t even try to hold back the drawn out yawn that escaped her lips. It had been a long day, her limbs were hurting, she’d barely had any sleep, and if she had to train for one more minute she just might snap. “ Haaah, is it finally almost over ? Seriously, it felt like today was n e v e r going to end. Huh, Nate ? ” She turned to her brother to check for his answer. Truthfully, Severa wasn’t expecting an agreement-- being far too accustomed to everyone telling her some thing or other about it all being necessary. Of course no matter how often they repeated this she never held back from complaining whenever she got the chance.
This usually being when she was well away from Frederick and his careful ears.
“ Gawd, it’s still so weird having to look up at you. This is sooo not fair. How am I supposed to be a big sister like this ? ”
@kvlpa ♡’d
It wasn’t often that Severa found herself in a pub or anything related to the sorts. Oftentimes she tried to avoid these unless it was the only available ‘ inn ’ around town. Another exception to this was for means of information gathering. After all, everyone knew there was no better way to catch word of anything than to listen in on the slurred words of a drunkard. It was annoying and sometimes there wasn’t anything useful to be heard, but occasionally they mentioned something that piqued her interest. It’d been almost a week and all she wanted something to chase after. Some quest to take up or peculiar rumor to follow.
Traveling without aim r e a l l y had its drawbacks now and then. “ I just had to come to the most b o r i n g town. ” A heavy sigh escaped her as she went for another sip of water only to find her glass had been emptied. “ ...Guess that’s my cue. ” Pulling her cloak around her, Severa pushed to her feet and turned heel. Though she hadn’t bothered to check her surroundings and only walked head first into the person behind her.
“ Ah-- ! I’m sorry. I was just heading out. ”

dragonknightsworn:
@zimmercalla got the blue saber(x) “Well I’m don’t have much experience cooking I think I can do this much,” Kirito didn’t really paid attention to her line. The swordsman just started to cook the dish. He started by slicing the meat. The swordsman held his knives like he was using his swords.
A small grin at her lips, Severa contented herself with taking a seat to watch. She could chime in now and then, offering advice and whatnot, but where was the f u n in that ? Oh, but then she’d have to be the one taste-testing in the end didn’t she ? Maybe she could trick someone else into it before the time came.
“ Well, its never too late to learn. I’m not too surprised, though. I was the one always cooking back then. ”
multiversalxpostxoffice:
The young man, he had to be no older than twenty at the most, smiled at Severa. “I-I’m sorry, Miss! I’m not entirely sure myself, as I am also lost.”
He chuckled, reaching up and scratching his head.
“I was actually just about to ask you the same thing, as I’m not sure where I am.” He lowered his arm, before smiling again. “Sorry I couldn’t be much help! If you’re hungry, I can set up camp right now and cook somethin’ up!”
He prided himself on his cooking. It was one of the few skills he had bothered to properly learn before he set out on his first journey. This was his second journey, and he liked to think he wasn’t too shabby.
“Oh!” He suddenly exclaimed, eyes widening. “Where are my manners? I’m Luka! I’m a Hero- Er, that is, Fake Hero? Hero Apprentice?” He began to suddenly mutter to himself. “I know I wasn’t baptised, but does that matter now…? Maybe not…?” He shook his head.
“S-Sorry! L-Lemme start over! I’m Luka, a Hero! For real this time.”
He seemed nervous, and really tripped over his words alot, as if he were confusing even to himself.
A dark brow rose in question and Severa was quickly regretting asking the first person she crossed. Maybe it would’ve been better to wander around first after all. This guy seemed... all over the place, to put it simply. Even Owain was easier to keep up with. “ R...Right, um... No, I’m fine without camping another night. ” More like for the rest of her life, but that was definitely not gonna be stopping anytime soon. “ I mean, no offense, I’m sure you’re cooking is great, but I seriously want to find a bed. ”
She paused a moment, running the rest of what he’d said through her mind. Hero? Fake hero... ? What was this guy’s deal ?
“ Uh, sorry, so you are a hero ? Took a bit l o n g to decide that, don’t you think. ” Hands at her hips, Severa gave the other a once over. By no means did she consider herself someone fit of judging such, even after everything she and her friends had done, but she couldn’t help questioning him further. “ I don’t mean to pry, but why the confusion ? ”
“I’ll see what I can do.”(Severa with Kirito?)
“ I hope I won’t be disappointed, then. Or is that asking too much ? ”
A playful jab more than an insult of any kind, but ultimately it was up to him how he took it. Maybe she should mend the delivery of her lines one of these days, but ah well. That was too much work. Besides, it was a great way to gauge how well others k n e w her. “ Seriously though, its a simple recipe. I doubt you could mess it up that badly. ”
