it might make more sense if it's not feasible for the predator and the prey to communicate for whatever reason, lack of shared languages or size difference or whatever else
it could be willing or unwilling, or even one shifting into the other when it sets in
My answer is that I think this is really peak, I actually really love this idea a lot.
My first thought is that I'm imagining a dragon in this scenario. Maybe there's a village girl who's being sacrificed to appease the beast's whims. To secure the safety of the people, she's gotta hop down its gullet.
I'd imagine she has trouble accepting her fate as dragon chow. And when she's waiting in the belly of the beast, waiting for the acids to claim her and drag her down... nothing happens.
Time passes. She has no idea how long. The ropes binding her arms and the rags adorning her body have long since dissolved, yet she remains. There's no terror or flames or destruction to be heard outside, so as far as she knows, her village is safe—she performed her duty, and yet she remains.
There's no way to communicate with this dragon, neither can understand one another... the only thing she can truly understand is that she must learn to live inside its belly as best as she can, because there's no way out...

Unsurprisingly, ever since I was a kid I've had the fantasy of "I meet a girl and we're friends but WOAH she can eat people and she lets me rub her stomach and touch her boobs and never eats me because she loves me". Again, unsurprising I know.
