Elliott and the moonlight jellies

A study that kinda took me a while to make since I took a long break, I could've continued with it but I'd rather make more/make art at all than never doing anything because I can't make it 'perfect' I bought the life-drawing reference pack "Daniel" from Howard Lyon a little while ago so I'd like to continue to study from it. I maybe made it wayyy too hard for myself, especially when I'm so rusty.

Slowly trying to get used to tumblr and how to make my posts more organized, and find a voice that feels authentic to me. Peep that line break. Aww yeaaa.

March 3rd is Ethiras' birthday! My best soft OC boy. He likes fish and water (usually). Painting has been pretty hard for me lately so I'm glad that I could get something done.

My Stardew Valley pieces of varying age. I've found it to be a really soothing outlet (like most people I imagine) that I dip into now and again when I need to be self indulgent or when I feel stuck artistically. My farmer usually marries Elliott :>

I still like this one, haven't worked in this 'style' in a long time but it was at the very least easier to get things done in a half-decent amount of time _ Kohle giving Ethiras a long overdue hair cut, the boys have feelings about it, I like making things without dialogue sometimes

Mind // Slip

Probably my favourite of the three; more OC stuff as a vehicle for exploring my feelings, digital paintings from last year. This one was definitely about my anxiety and depression and trauma response brain soup, where everything felt very smeared and brain foggy/groggy. I'm grateful that I don't feel this way that often anymore. It holds a bunch of 'modern au' OC vibes, which still follow the themes of the Rotherim(fantasy) canon, but with the addition of thick rubbery thigh-highs! More on that to come since the modern stuff has been more of my focus of late but in the meantime I wanted to populate the blogggg (which will in fact be just a lot of Ethiras probably?)

Voice//Vise a housewarming gift to my fresh 'blr, a painting from last year when I was feeling a lot worse than I do now. It's one of three that I categorized under the title 'anxieties'. It's still a bit vague to describe, since it's a combination of OC stuff [Ethiras/Zerys] and my own little brain circus. I think at the time I had decided it was about the feeling of being choked, of not being able to say what you mean, of going non-verbal which was frequent for me at the time. It's a little more 'evil within' to me now, especially regarding my own passage through trauma related healing, but I guess that's one of the cool parts about making art when you feel horrible; you find fresh insight into it when it's a little more processed. Because of Ethiras' relationship with Zerys it holds a bit more about their power dynamic, which is abusive and rather one-sided for the majority of their interactions. I was really pleased with this one as I was making it and while there's stuff I'd change about it now, it was the first 'big' piece I attempted since graduating.
