A Review of the Softopper for the Honda Ridgeline Let me open by stating that I was extremely impressed with the quality of the product's manufacturing, and that of the installation instructions. The Softopper was obviously designed and built with care. I did have some issues with the installation. 1) According to the instructions in Step 7, there should be "flat weather-sealed upper portion of the small rails" to position under the cab cross-bar. I understand the design of the cross-bar has changed, but I saw nothing to lay under it. The results is a significant gap right at that junction, which is extremely welcoming to precipitation! 2) The other thing I found, again in the area where the cross-bar meets the side small rails, was that the coupler nuts could have been a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer. In forcing the cross-bar down to set the screw, I cross-threaded it. If it had been slightly longer, I would have been better able to fasten the screw. In the attached images you can see how much room there is left for it. All in all, I have no regrets. I just need to find a better-fitting coupler nut and some kind of sealing membrane. I need it to be water-tight - I plan to use it a lot!
