more bullet points!!
lauren is a tough bitch because she's had to be. she was never what her mother envisioned when she was pregnant with her. her mom imagined a demure beauty who she could push into beauty pageants and make money off of, essentially. when lauren's body type began to become what wasn't, her mom tried to change her so that she could keep winning pageants, but that just made lauren rebel against her and eventually grow to hate her. she hated doing pageants and hated feeling like she had to change her natural shape to fit her mom's standards.
even though she doesn't want to be a model or a pageant queen, lauren does still love to express herself through fashion and makeup.
in high school, she became the first girl to join the boys' wrestling team due to her sheer talent for the sport. she was damn strong and could beat any boy on the opposing teams. guys were generally scared of her, so it made it hard to date, although there were some guys here and there - and girls too.
lauren didn't feel like college was for her even though she was offered a wrestling scholarship. her real passion was always art, anyway, and she dreamed of her art being on people's bodies forever. there wasn't a stronger statement for art to make, in her opinion, and so she dedicated herself to honing her craft, to move to new york and get her art seen by as many people as possible, until she was hired at a tattoo & piercing studio by the owner who loved her unique work on sight.
lauren can be snarky and rude, bold and extremely blunt. it was a kind of shell for her to wear so that no one knew that deep inside of her was just someone who had a big heart and hated being different. she had to fake it 'til she made it when it came to her confidence, and sometimes still has to. her family often made her feel like she was a martian that just didn't fit; square peg, round hole.
