Zasavje Noisefest International (ZNFI) is an annual festival, that in the upcoming 6th Edition in the month of September is moving to another venue located right below the highest power plant chimney in the world right now (Termoelektrarna Trbovlje or TET Power Plant, Trbovlje, Slovenia). All previous editions were held in an old decommissioned coal-miners complex and now we're moving to another location and venue. Actual venue is called Strojnica aka Power Station (125 MW), and is an old (not in use anymore), actual power station which is a part of the whole Power Plant complex. The officials kindly let us use it for the festival's edition, and we're gonna keep up with this line also in the future.
The actual location and place of the festival in the current edition, is going to be a challenge and a new experience to us also, though its a 6th Edition in the game, but this time, in a completely new space. We are still keeping the tradition in conjoining our sound interventions with industrial buildings that are left unused. The zasavje region has a long industrial history, and we are now moving to a legendary place, or area, where Laibach had their show in 1990.
So, after 29 years, ZNFI is kicking it at TET PP, bringing a new chapter/s in the artistic merger between the industry and art.
Architecture of a sound is closely connected with the architecture of a space, and each space determines, gives lines to the logic of the sonic approach and its visual characteristics. So, both visual part of the building/venue itself and the visual part that can be done in it, coupled with sonic intervention, is a crucial part of the event itself, to be effective.
