Introducing ZoaZoa

Say hello to the resident party animals of Anarchy Bay, ZoaZoa.

This dynamic duo-and-a-half; El, Mamalu, and Bewi, are here to party till the tide comes in (not like it would stop them). Inspired by tropical sounds like moombahton, garage house, & tropical house; their music makes it so that everyday feels like summer vacation. You can find their music anywhere on the streets of Anarchy Bay.

Beautiful evening in the Splatlands

Honestly, performing at the Grand Festival Grounds was truly a wonderful experience. Though it was different from the usual salty seas we’re used to, the evening sky was lovely & the Festival Grounds weren’t to far from the Bay. It was an honor to preform for such a lively crowd as well!

Introducing Bewi

Bewi is a blue radioactive (somehow psychic) clownfish. He represents the Lion fish due to his Energetic and sometimes prideful personality. At first glance he comes off as a simpleminded creature, but deep passed those glowing eyes is a sea of thoughts our feeble inkfish minds could never comprehend. Though he struggles to truly dive into his deepest thoughts, so more often than not he ends up sounding like a stuttering toddler.

Bewi likes to fly around the stage with the music guiding his movements. Though it comes off as dancing it’s more likely he’s spacing out and subconsciously moving to the beat. Despite his stutter Bewi is the lyricist of the band, he’s clever when it comes to rhyming schemes, though the lyrics themselves tend to lack a deeper meaning (though that doesn’t stop it from being stupidly catchy).

When Bewi first came to Anarchy Bay, Mamalu saved him from the Salmonid territory. Though she was just a kid at the time, Mamalu decided to keep Bewi as her clownfish companion, and he’s been attached ever since. Bewi often makes fun of El, calling them things like “lame-o” or “party pooper” because of their more laid back demeanor. But Bewi still loves them cause who else is gonna feed him? Bewi often calls by their nicknames Mama & Eli.

Despite popular belief Bewi does not actually sing with the others, he’s more like a mascot of the group, though there are rumors that he mimics the voices of Mamalu & El as back up vocals.

Introducing Mamalu

Mamalu is an anemone born and raised in Anarchy Bay. She represents the Cow fish due to her caring and motherly nature. On stage she comes off as elegant and sweet, but off stage she’s a loud & proud party junkie, who’s here to have fun & help others have fun as well.

Mamalu’s dance style is one significant to Anarchy Bays culture. The dance consists of smooth, rhythmic motions that represent the history of the Bay. Growing up her parents taught her the dance, and through that she became an expert on it. Mamalu is the producer of the band, and she’s experienced in the music industry, with her debut Slick Moves under the band name Crevasse being a hit in Lobbies.

Mamalu believes El is the next big star of Inkadia, and she wants to do everything in her power to make them happy. When she discovered their talents she ran with it and made this group in their image. Bewi lives in Mamalu’s hair, and because of that they’re extremely close. She sees Bewi less as a pet and more his own person, which is why she doesn’t take care of him that much.

Mamalu has a soft cute voice, and despite all of her experience she’s lacking in vocal technique. She knows how to sound good, but she just doesn’t feel like putting in the effort.

Introducing El

El is a sea slug from the southern islands near Anarchy Bay. They represent the Unknown fish due to their mysterious and sometimes intimidating vibe. Off stage they’re laid back and quiet. They’re not to be causing a commotion (they leave the chaos to Mamalu & Bewi), but one they hit the dance floor they become a wild beast.

El’s dance style is deceptively high energy featuring fast hip movements to highlight their (rather small) cerata tail. According to them it mimics the movements of their favorite birds. El is the composer/DJ for the band, they utilize samples of mallet instruments because they struggle to play themselves.

El absolutely adores and looks up to Mamalu, though they can find her a little obnoxious at times. Mamalu is the reason El was able to make it this far and they will forever cherish her. El sees Bewi as a pet especially since they take care of him more than Mamalu. At first El thought he was an inconvenience, but Bewi eventually grew on them.

El has a deep voice yet powerful voice, and though they don’t find them selves vocally gifted Mamalu begs to differ.
