"I hate a great many things, Princess," he replied, his tone as sharp as Valyrian steel but laced with amusement. His violet eyes glimmered under the torchlight as he tilted his head slightly, the smirk never leaving his face. "But I find exceptions now and then. Specially with the right partner."

Daemon stepped closer, closing the gap between them. His hand brushed hers with calculated ease, a silent invitation. "Perhaps I simply wanted to see if you could keep up." Daemon quipped as he led her toward the center of the hall, the space parting for them as though commanded by dragons.

Daemon’s gaze lingered on her, his tone daring yet warm, as though the thought of proving her wrong was more enticing than the dance itself. “Or,” he added with a chuckle, “are you afraid I’ll outshine you?”

Daemon stood near the open doorway, his silver hair catching the faint, intermittent glow of each strike. He leaned on Dark Sister, while his sharp eyes flicked to the elven woman seated gracefully on a broken stone bench.

Caraxes distinct roar was heard, his dragon almost ready to fight the storm itself and Daemon smirked, though the tension in his shoulders betrayed his wariness. “So,” he drawled, his voice carrying over the roar of the wind, “even creatures of myth are not immune to the wrath of the elements.” But his eyes are on her now, as he speaks of said creatures. She was as almost as famous as a dragon.

Daemon chuckled darkly, stepping further into the room, his boots echoing against the stone floor. The Targaryen prince barked a laugh, resting Dark Sister against the wall. “Hiding here from a bit of lightning. I thought elves were meant to be fearless.”

For a moment, silence filled the space between them, broken only by the roar of thunder. Daemon’s lips twitched into a smirk again, but his voice was quieter when he answered, “I’ve endured worse. Do not worry about winds and thunder, my lady.”

small daemon headcanon things:

rhaenys was his first crush. and even if he hated that meleys chose her instead of him as a rider, in a twisted way, daemon being daemon, saw that as approval from his mother. but by the time he figure he should be wed to someone, his grandmother already insisted in rhea royce.

for this, he refuses to even think of her like everyone does as "good queen alysanne". she was not good queen, she was grandmother who forced me to wed a woman colder than stone. and he still can't figure out why.

after gifting rhaenyra the valyrian necklace, he made it tradition in their anniversaries to gift her more valyrian gifts, be it steel jewlery or things he found on his travels from their culture.

if no dance had happened, he would've agreed to a marriage between aegon the younger and jaehaera as a reconciliation between the families, but that is because jaehaera remind him of his mother, or what he recalls of her, which is little.

while dark sister is said to be made for a woman's hand, daemon prefers it because it's lighter and quicker to act for this reason. valyrian steel is a nextension of his hand.

daemon and caraxes bond is so deep, he does not need to give commands in battle. he might do so in demostrations of prowess or teaching other dragonriders but generally, he and caraxes do not need it.
