It looks like a cross between a chameleon and a mosaic. Paignton Zoo Environmental Park in Devon has bred a Chinese crocodile lizard for the first time - by recreating a little piece of rural South China in suburban South Devon.

Over the past year, 21-year-old Zoo Keeper Gabby Charlesworth has bravely battled and defeated adrenal cancer. Directors at Drusillas Park wanted to show their support for Gabby, by naming their new baby squirrel monkey after her.

Conservationists from Bristol Zoological Society have confirmed a sighting of one of the rarest and most endangered birds in the world. A team from Bristol Zoological Society travelled to Panay Island in the Philippines in search of the elusive Negros bleeding heart dove and, after five days of trekking for eight hours each day, they managed to film the bird deep in the heart of the forest. The species is so rare that it has only been filmed in the wild a handful of times. This is the first time it has been seen and filmed in recent years.
Are these the most beautiful chicks in the country? Keepers at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park in Devon are hand rearing birds that looks like they’re worth their weight in gemstones.

It’s finally time for dads to sit back and relax as they prepare to be pampered by loved-ones this weekend. This Father’s Day is particularly special for one squirrel monkey at Drusillas Park.

Keepers at West Midland Safari Park have provided some World Cup-themed enrichment for the youngest elephant in their care.
Sutton, who recently celebrated his fourth birthday, seemed to relish the opportunity at playing with a giant football ahead of England’s first game in the four-week-long tournament.
The youngster was a natural when it came to kicking the ball, using his trunk and front feet to dribble it around his enclosure, much to the amusement of mum Five, aunt Latabe and his dedicated keepers. Sutton showed off his great ball skills and even managed to flick the ball over his head!

ZSL London Zoo’s Asiatic lionesses enjoy football match ahead of World Cup.
ZSL London Zoo’s own three lions showed their support today (Thursday 14 June) for England by practising their football skills ahead of the team’s opening World Cup match in Russia.
The three-a-side pride kicked off the day with their own football, decorated with the England flag, to celebrate the start of the global event.

It all kicked-off at Drusillas Park this week, as animals from around the world started to compete for the 2018 Wild Cup.
The Brazilian coatis got their noses in front from the start and did not disappoint the crowds with their usual display of silky smooth skills, impressive dribbling and samba style celebrations.
With no surprise, the African meerkats were united behind their national squad. Their defence remained solid throughout, with one meerkat on the lookout for any threat from the opposition at all times.

The ever-popular Friday Twilights are returning to Bristol Zoo Gardens this summer giving people a rare chance to visit the iconic attraction as the sun sets.
Visitors can see its amazing collection of animals from around the world, including its newest arrivals - the tree kangaroos - and wander around its award winning gardens as the sun sets.
Usually only the keepers get the chance to spend time in the Zoo as the days draw to a close but Friday Twilights gives everyone that opportunity for just £5.

One beach on the English Riviera is proving to be perfect for a very special wading bird. The beach is at Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo, and is tended by keepers with all the care and dedication of Buddhist monks raking the gravel of a Zen garden. The reason? Pied avocets. These elegant wading birds have black and white plumage, long legs and long, thin, curving bills. Their name is said to come from the shape of the black patch on the head, which resembles the cap once worn by advocates, or lawyers, in some countries.
Popular visitor attraction, Drusillas Park is up for their third award in less than two months! After winning the Muddy Stilettos’ award for ‘Best Family Attraction’ last month, Drusillas has now reached the finals in two categories of the ‘East Sussex Women in Business’ Awards.
