Wolverine was born in Canada. Do we know if he has US citizenship or a work visa? Is he an undocumented immigrant?
According to the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, Logan has permanent residency in the United States (i.e, a green card). It’s an interesting case, because since he was born in the 1880s, Logan may well have come into the United States prior to the Immigration Act of 1924, which was the first act to require visas for entry into the United States. So it’s possible that he could claim U.S citizenship under the Naturalization Act without ever having had a visa.
Regardless, this is somewhat academic, because Logan is no longer a resident of the United States. As a mutant, Logan is automatically a citizen of Krakoa, and currently resides on the Moon with his boyfriend and girlfriend.
Under the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies of 1967, the Moon cannot be claimed as sovereign territory by any of 109 nations who’ve signed the treaty.
However, Krakoa isn’t a signatory to the Outer Space Treaty, and every other example of a Krakoan habitat has been claimed as sovereign Krakoan territory. So it’s likely that the Summer House on the Blue Area of the Moon is part of Krakoa.
A comic about Logan’s troubles getting his green card renewed is now all I want in the world.
