It was difficult for him [Mike Patton]. He had never flown on a plane, never lived outside of his parents’ home in Northern California, never left the small town in the woods where he lived a very sheltered life. Then all of a sudden he joined our band, made a record, and he’s on-stage with Metallica, front-man for a band, in front of 10,000 people.

It was hard for him to deal with. And if sometimes he has to be a brat to deal with that, then it’s not that big a deal.
