Finally got around to doing some digital art of Limbus Company's Meursault!! ₍₍⚞(^ᗜ^ )⚟⁾⁾ ♡♡
I hope his Canto will be worth the wait, I have no doubt it'll be amazing <33
I had a dream about the plague movie and it was perfect
It wasn't biblically accurate and I saw just a couple of scenes but they were so so good(( it looked like Sherlock (BBC and soviet) sometimes. There was a background voice that told about Tarrou's hotel being closed and him moving in with Rieux. And then there was an episode where they were lying on a matrass(?) and laughing and they probably were drunk because they behaved like two boys😭 they had some little problem, like one of them spilled something or whatever, Rieux started to rush around and Tarrou just giggled and solved the problem in two seconds. There also was a musical part and a really beautiful scene in the car, they were filmed from the front window and the street lights were sliding gently down the glass and their faces in the dark of the night 🙏🏻 I wish it existed(((
this emerged in my head when I was trying to drive
May I propose the fill ins?
#i am undiagnosing myself with 'adhd' and rediagnosing myself with 'cursed by wizard'
My Record of Ragnarok oc, Haniya aka the wife of Simo Häyhä! I’ll post a TikTok about her once I get more of her done like a relationship wheel especially since I wanna include some other winter war people. What do you guys think?
I've had this idea for a while now (even before I fully read the book lol) and I haven't seen anyone mention anything similar, so I thought I'd share an interpretation of The Plague I have: The reason why Rieux and Tarrou have such a dynamic - whether it is platonic or romantic - is because they are the same person.
The Plague itself is a part of Camus' cycle of revolt, and can sort of be seen as a follow-up to The Stranger in terms of its themes. If The Stranger showed an example of someone recognising the absurd (with Meursault acting as the perfect "absurd hero"), The Plague can be seen as Camus' matured thoughts about the world around him - once someone has recognised the absurd, how do they apply that to the world around them?
In this, I think Rieux and Tarrou are both supposed to represent two different sides to Camus:
Tarrou is the philosophical side to Camus. The man of the absurd, having recognised its affect on humanity and beginning to fight against it. He harbours a lot of thoughts on ethics and morality that Camus has, such as his hatred for the death penalty and his feelings on activism. He lives his life to its fullest, taking pleasure in the little things rather than focusing on what is to come after.
Rieux is the more realistic side to Camus. He is the man who is going about his day-to-day life, struggling to fight against what is simply in front of him. He does what he does because it is the right thing to do, helping others heal and stopping himself from being "too emotional" to prevent any biases affecting his work.
Their "hour of friendship" is where these two ideas combine - can one bring about the ideas of the absurd into reality, or are they just idealistic concepts based on an idealistic view of life? Through here, Tarrou is passing on his philosophy onto Rieux, as if to give him a definite introduction into the absurd based on everything he already knows about life. The swimming scene may be full of such intimacy because that is how Camus saw the act of swimming - almost sexual in some way. The two have their hearts at one because they have become Camus himself, their ideas joining together to make up the mind of the author writing their story.
So when Tarrou eventually succumbs to the plague and Rieux is forced to watch, the roots of the philosophy are gone. In essence, Tarrou's ideology is still there in the mind of Rieux, but after everything, after all of this suffering, it's up to Rieux to carry on the ideology of his friend and bring it into the light of the real world rather than keeping it in the darkness of thoughts alone. His physical body may be gone, but Tarrou's spirit has now become one with Rieux, and the doctor - or Camus, in better words - has become both the perfect absurd hero and a healer who wishes to simply do good by others.
When someone recognises the absurd, they don't just die like Meursault, or can't live their entire life with their own goals in mind like the former Mersault. If one is to recognise the absurd, they have to use it to better the lives of others - and as Rieux has realised, to be the perfect "true healer", even against something that is impossible to fight.
The death of Tarrou represents Camus moving on from his initial ideas in the cycle of the absurd, with Rieux's final reaction and mentality showing how one can be an absurdist whilst still having their heart in the real world.
(Of course, I am not a philosopher or professional in this area, and I cant say I have perfectly interpreted the book - only Camus knows why he wrote what he did. If my words have been a struggle to understand, I can only deeply apologise and attempt to clear any confusing statements made. ♡‧₊˚)
Since Canto 10 is coming soon in Limbus Company (which reveals Meursault's past), if they do end up including other Camus characters, as much as I would LOVE that to happen...
...if anything bad happens to Rieux, I'm just going to stare at the screen in silence for a good half an hour in tears because not even LBC is giving the poor man a break. </3
My RoR oc, Haniya in chibi form. Finally getting around to draw her fully since she’s my yumeship with Simo Häyhä from Record of Ragnarok. (Also plan on trying to get back to playing Limbus Company.)
Dr Bernard Rieux design!! (づ˶> ᵕ < ︎˶)づ❤︎
I am thinking of making an animatic series in the future (with scenes from The Plague), so I wanted to make a concept design for Rieux. This is my first time rendering and trying to do more professional-style digital art, so if anyone has any suggestions for additions to his design or ideas for the animatic, I would love to hear them ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Dr Richard from The Plague/La Peste!! ☆
I don't really see many people talk about him (since he appears very little) compared to other characters, but I do think he's quite an important example of how hesitant Oran was to accept the existence of the plague at first, especially since he is described as being a leading doctor and someone Dr Rieux immediately turned to for clarity.
Of course, there's no real hints in the book that talk about his physical appearance, but something about his dynamic with Rieux (and how he thinks it would be better to not worry the town since it'll lead to a better outcome for the mentality of the people, despite the fact that Rieux is more concerned about the deaths that will occur) reminds me vaguely of the reason why the conflict between Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre began later on in the writer's life :')

Meursault in The Stranger sleeping in most days, meanwhile Rieux in The Plague canonically running on 4 hours of sleep:
(All respects go to Tarrou for driving Rieux around to let the doctor get some extra sleep!! ♡)
First post, some ROR/SNV art I've made of Simo and an OC who hates him (ᵕ ´ ∇ ˋ ˶)♡
The art is based on the songs "Military Fashion Show" by AND ONE and "Military Fascist Show" by Caustic (which is thought to be a song slandering the former band, although its not clear how true this theory is or whether the allegations held against them are credible...) ♪
────── ⋆⋅❆⋅⋆ ──────
The OC is Sulo "Simeoni" Kolkka, a fusion of both the IRL journalist and the sniper myth of the same name. To describe him, he's a hot-headed Finnish sports/investigative journalist and war correspondent who firmly believes that Simo's accolades are a lie based on propaganda and wants to expose him for such reasons, harbouring a lot of hatred towards Simo and his companions. Of course, a lot of this hatred towards Simo being a "fraud" and a "liar" is obviously based on false evidence (especially with Simo's own hatred for the White Death myth considering what its driven him to do), and it's very easy to hate Sulo - however, there are rumours of a ruthless sniper sharing his name operating during the Winter War at a similar time to when he had gone missing (and upon being found, having lost an eye to a blade for an unknown reason), and due to the truth of his disappearance being unknown to both him and the public, there may to be more to Sulo’s story and his hatred of Simo...
Some other fun facts about him: He's also famously a progressive and fair sports journalist (although many only see him as the Simo-hating investigative journalist), he has a young daughter, he drinks a lot of coffee to stay awake whilst writing stories, and despite saying that he has no "heroes", he has a secret admiration for a certain philosopher he refuses to name ⋆.˚☆
