ight i can't do this anymore
as many of you all know, i've written tons and tons of Zutara fic over the past year or so now. specifically, i've written about 150k+ words about our faves, Katara and Zuko. lately, however, i have been feeling increasingly uncomfortable within this fandom setting as time goes on and as new developments within the fandom have occurred
for one thing, the shutting down of POC, particularly WOC. a lot of white people have recently been trying to give their two cents regarding racism within the fandom and within the context of Zutara. let me be clear with you: you do not understand, nor do you have the right to be speaking on such issues. we do not want your two cents
additionally, there's been this overwhelming flood of untagged rated e content in the Zutara tag. miss me with that. i have NSFW content filtered out, but when that content's not properly tagged, the filters do not catch it. the Zutara fandom has always claimed to be good with sticking to proper tags so that people can curate their own fandom experience. tag your NSFW so that minors or people who don't wanna see NSFW content can filter it out properly, please. tagging etiquette 101
also. i've always been an advocate for curating your own fandom experience and for being anti harassment. but y'all. the Sh*rtless Zuk0 Sunday thing?? really?? is that really necessary?? there are tons of minors and young adults within the fandom, and most of us are over here like... what the hell?? again, i'm all for curating your own fandom experience, but i know that i'm not the only person who thinks it's really weird
yes, teens have sex or engage in sexual activity with one another, but a bunch of fandom adults thirsting over a malnourished sixteen year old boy is kinda weird!! it's VERY weird!! like?? again, a lot of minors and people under twenty have found this "event" to be really uncomfortable, and we've all collectively begun to block the tag. but is it not a little bit sus that the only people who are participating in this "event" are thirsty adults who are literally lusting over a cartoon child?? it's especially weird when a lot of it just involves people thirsting over screencaps of him from the beach episode when he's a literal malnourished child and his ribs are showing, and??
all these things collectively make me want to throw up, and quite frankly, a bunch of my ZK fics might never end up being finished because this fandom is slowly spiraling downward, and i really don't want to stick around and watch it happen
