I def think Samchel was supposed to be endgame which is why they left Sam single basically. All we need is St. Berry divorce and voila off screen Samchel reunion. BTW can you write fanfic?

My theory is they couldn't figure out a realistic way to have Sam go to New York with Rachel, or just didn't feel like developing the storyline. The fact that they didn't make s@mcedes endgame makes me think they weren't really pandering to fans at all.

Well, my theory is that the fact that JGroff was available to return (even if it was only for two episodes) made them change the ending. Because you know, I believe there was a 'realistic' way to Sam, and it was making him get a job as a coach in NY, probably with the help of Coach Beiste. And that would have been grrreat. But it didn't happen.So yeah, I think it was bc JG. And Lea obviously.
