Peyton chuckled at how adorably the other took compliments. She gives a small nod, she certainly understood being close to a parent. “That’s really sweet, do you both work together then? Little father-daughter super team?” she smiled. When asked for a recommendation, Peyton laughed again and sat up straighter, looking around the club at all her coworkers. “Well, that depends on what you’re into. Gender? Hair colour? You like someone soft and sweet or a little rough around the edges?” she asked with a raised brow, curious to know the answers.
Olivia was hesitant to talk about her father and her work, she’d been warned to not let out too many secrets but a part of her wanted to talk about these things for once. She debates on how to reply, pressing her lips together for a moment before she speaks. “He likes to think I work for him, but that’s just something I let him think. I’m definitely the smarter one.” She chuckles. “Hmm...” The brunette follows the other woman’s gaze and listens to her questions. “Gender doesn’t matter but I think soft and sweet would be perfect.”

So much had had changed in the almost full year Andrew was gone from Calamity and his underwater kingdom. The responsibilities of his title and heartache had begun to fuse together inside his chest causing a pressure that instead of turning into a diamond - something strong and firm - it began to crack and crumble. He knew he was on the verge of a disastrophe that would have left him either broken more so, bruised or dead. It wasn’t healthy the way he thought about himself as he looked in the mirror each morning wondering ‘why bother’. Everything good in his life was gone because of him, tossed aside because Andrew never saw himself deserving of any of it; a family, love, people that relied on him. So, again, he knew it was only a matter of time before he gave into that small voice that had always lived in the back of his mind so he left.
Well he left after talking to his wonderful wife with a plan in his hand.
He left to go find meaning for himself, to help the kingdom that he was now partly in charge of as a way to give himself a purpose. Moving from mer-kingdoms to mer-kingdoms that weren’t part of Calamity and The Forgotten, Andrew used his quick wit and charismatic charms to get them to help his kingdom should a war break out. He wasn’t a strong fighter, he honestly was a bit of a coward but this he realized he could do well. And so he did.
Alliances joined their side, some more eager to help than others and eventually Andrew soon found himself looking into the mirrors in the morning and no longer thinking ‘why bother’. He had found his new purpose and passion for life and when he felt that not only was his work done, but that spark inside him was strong enough, he made his way back to The Forgotten.
Back home.
Andrew had been home for a few days when he finally found the urge to step onto land for the first time in almost a year. Scale exchanged he took his first steps assuming that it would be like riding a bike– It was not. Falling flat on his ass on the sand, he let out a dramatic sigh and rolled his head towards the nearest person because of course he wasn’t lucky enough to be alone for this moment of failure. “Care to help me up? Seems I have lost my land legs as embarrassing as this is.”
Olivia was walking down the shore again, something she’d gotten into the habit of since she’d dared to venture away from her lab in recent times. She had her shoes in one hand with her eyes focused on the sand beneath her toes, not even noticing the person coming from the waves until she heard a thud. Looking up, Olivia stops short while stifling a laugh at the scene. “Sure.” She hesitantly walks over and looks down at the stranger. “Here, give me your hand.” The brunette puts her shoes down before reaching down to help him.

Peyton raised a brow at the mention of the woman’s job. “Well damn, pretty and smart? That’s impressive,” she smirked. “Hey, all that tech stuff is usually what keeps people safe, so it’s not like that time was wasted,” she laughed. “I could never wrap my head around all that.” Peyton smiled, thinking it was probably impossible for this woman to be an asshole to anyone really. She took a glance around the club and then turned back to the other woman. “Oh yeah? Who around here would you want it from?” she wondered.
Olivia couldn’t help but drop her gaze at the compliment, a smile playing on her lips. “Now you’re gonna make my ego get too big.” The brunette leans back into her chair and rests her drink on the arm of it, thumb brushing over the condensation on the glass. “I learnt it all from my Dad, he’s the big brained one.” She adds, but tries to remember she’s not supposed to be so honest about the goings on in their camp, glad when the other woman asks her next question. “Hmm, I dunno. Who would you recommend?” Olivia asks, glancing around at the dancers.

While it was fun to taunt, fun to strike fear into her and watch it radiate from her in a way that was causing her to be a flustered mess, he needed to know who she’d been around that smelt so familiar. “Don’t you?” He pouted, a fake and overly-emphasised action as he took a larger step forwards, reaching out to clutch at her arms. “Gabriel. You know him,” a jump to conclusions sure, but it made sense, “and-” he sniffed at the air again, the faintness of the other person’s scent starting to build a picture in Mike’s mind, “-the man…from the warehouse. Gabe’s friend…that’s who you know. Now isn’t that interesting. Isn’t that…helpful.”
His questions confused the brunette and her mind couldn’t focus enough to think of an answer straightaway, adding to the fear she was currently feeling. She shakes her head as fresh tears toll down her cheeks before his hands wrap around her arms and Olivia lets out a scared squeak. “Gabriel? I-...” Her words cut off when he speaks again and her mind slowly begins to make the connection. “D-Daniel?” She asks in a whisper, wondering why he was asking about him and also wishing he was here to help her. “I don’t know where he is...” She tries to say as though her hopes of just needing information was his goal.

Peyton laughed and shook her head. “Oh no, I’m just a dancer here, owning it sounds like a lot of responsibility.” She listened to the other’s explanation and nodded knowingly, she noticed that happened to a lot of people. “What do you do for work?” she asked, curious as to what kept her so busy all the time. “Nice to meet you. Oh it probably is, but maybe if you like it, next time you bring all your friends,” she joked. “I’m just saying you’d be the gold standard of customers for one of them,” she added with a chuckle, then leaned forward as if she was telling Olivia a secret. “I can’t tell you how many assholes we get in here,” she said in a low voice, then smirked and sat back again.
Olivia chuckles herself at the other woman’s reply and nods her head in understanding. “I get it, being the boss can suck the fun out of any job.” She runs her free hand through her hair. “I’m a scientist...” The brunette trails off and hopes she doesn’t sound a little pompous. “I spent a little too long with my head buried in wires and gadgets.” Olivia smiles before taking a sip of her drink, finding herself leaning closer too. “I promise to not be an asshole.” She laughs softly. “But I do like the sound of a dance.”

Ricardo could see the woman was, not lost exactly, but still bemused at how she had managed to stray so far, and the oncoming darkness brought in by the night didn’t exactly help things. “Yeah, some real bad dogs. All from one pack I think, still working that out.” Piecing together what Octavia had told him and what Peyton had revealed about her suspicions. Sure, the wolf she’d talked about had a specific vendetta against his brother, but he couldn’t speak for the rest of the pack. A lone woman wondering their turf could result in something nasty. He raised an eyebrow. “Metal detector?” Made sense that would be what they were called, not that he’d used one, or really seen one before. “I think so? I don’t know, sometimes it’s quite sheltered underwater…I just know they make a noise when they come across treasure or something. Thought it would be something you might have if this is your hobby,” he chucked, relaxing himself seeing how she too seemed to be relaxing around him.
She really should have mapped this out or set a timer on when to head back but her curiosity was her own worst enemy and if she managed to make it back to the lab unscathed, Olivia was sure her dad would never let her hear the end of it. “Are you looking for them? Why would you look for the bad ones?” The brunette asks as though the idea was crazy but she didn’t know him, maybe she should give him more credit. “Yeah they beep when the sensor is over a metal. I’ve used one before, but you only really find old cans and lost coins.” She answers with a small shrug. “It’s not a hobby that’s ever stuck, no.” Olivia chuckles softly herself. “Are you wanting to take it up as one?”
