So I finally watched the latest mha episode and I want to talk about it before the anime officially ends tomorrow and because it is so good to analyze.
I noticed that Izuku didn't truly smile in the entire episode, a big contrast to earlier seasons where his personality is livelier. There is something in his mind after war is over. Izuku is quiet while he just functions.
When Spinner calls him a murderer he is okay with it, he accepts the term because he perceives himself as such. But when the first year student tells him just how much he admires him and how he, as hero Deku, encourages him to do his best something in Izuku snaps and he grabs his chest, because it hurts.
Society don't have the same view on villains as him, and that hurts him, a lot, because people congratulate and thank him for saving the world, because society see salvation in death, just as Nana and Torino told him. Shigaraki has no salvation, you need to kill him and this contradicts Izuku entire being. To Izuku save is to give second chances, to empathize, to understand... but he couldn't do that, so now he feels guilty while society thanks him for being a killer.
He sees Uraraka and knows what she is hiding behind her smile because that's what he does most of the time, smile and pretend that everything is fine (also this is what Kacchan said to Endeavor and in front of everybody because ugh he knows him so well).
Uraraka says something like she can't cry in front of the others because people are so happy that war is over but Toga's death is really affecting her. And Deku goes after her, and they cry because society wouldn't understand why that the terror is finally gone they are suffering. That's why they search "comfort" in each other.
Unfortunately, Kacchan wouldn't comprehend Izuku's feelings in this regard (I'm sure he would actually really try nonetheless) because if he must finish the job he will, no mercy for those moth3rfuck3rs.
But as always, Izuku doesn't take himself into account and when he goes after Uraraka it is to talk about her suffering and make her feel better. The rest of the class arrives and everybody is worried about her, but Kacchan gets closer to Izuku and with a loud voice asks how the embers are doing so that all his classmates worry about him too🫠.
I really liked the episode, objectively I truly saw Izu0ch4 as platonic, they were just friends sharing the same pain. I wished Horikoshi would have written the last arc better.
