He walks into the hotel room theyve blocked out for the next few days unbuttoning his shirt and theres a clatter

Looks up to see Ace bright red staring hard at the bold line of his cleavage cupped by soft whispery lace, his brow deeply furrowed

Marco likewise stares from where hes kicked over a decorative plant

“Thats. New.” Ace finds his voice first, tongue tied because Sabos never shown much inclination into his undergarments before

Marco finally steps forward and places a pen between his pecs. It’s a rather strange act- but the way it stays in place is enthralling. His large hands press his fingers against his sides, while his thumbs drag over the thin lace, admiring the material with wide eyes, a dust of red over his face. Sabo huffs under the attention, as if he doesn’t enjoy it.

Ace, ever the man he is, slides up from behind, taking the pen from the bra so he can enjoy the full view. His palms slide over Sabo’s hips, fingers teasing against the waistline- experimentally trying to see if his underwear match. Normally- on the rare occasion Sabo wasn’t in control, they’d rip off his clothes then and there- but not this time. The boys leave the bra on- refusing to destroy it as Sabo whimpers under them.

They fuck him in it, too. Ace pulling the underwear to the side and eating Sabo like he was a finely wrapped treat, while Marco fucks him from behind, one hand tight around the side of the lacy underwear, the other squeezed tight on his hip. One of Sabo’s legs rest on Ace’s shoulder- keeping him close, as if he would run away.

Its a long night of role reversal. Poor Sabo has to go get more underwear soon- this pair has stains, now. Plus, some more racey kinds can’t hurt.

Creature feature the desolation of a ruined laboratory Marco and Ace part of an extraction team answering the SOS ping from a distanct planet markered as keter class

Marco’s assigned because he’s got medical experience to rival his rescue resume, he’s also quite handy with a pulsar rifle and his reinforced skeleton is also a plus

Ace is also assigned because he’s never missed a shot, he’s also the best in the fleet for navigating hostile environments whilst airborne with the greatest end outcome

But when their team alights and commences their extraction mission the laboratory doors are blown wide open

Their first class bestiary expert and tracker Yamato makes the not so comforting observation that the tracks are leaving the facility, Ace doesnt particularly like that, no one does

They dont have time to hunt it though, their mission is to enter the facility rescue any survivors and get out, it would also be extremely stupid to go hunt whatever escaped down on the minimal information theyve got to go off of

The deeper they press forth into the facility it becomes far more apparent that there are in fact no survivors its also cold extremely so

So its no wonder that when Deuces voice crackles through their headsets that hes picked up a signature, its not heat based his voice sounds strained and unsure so Ace and Marco regroup and requests the rest of the team to round back to the gathering point on the main floor and they head down to find Deuce and Koala who are crouched behind a pair of obnoxiously heavy vacuum pressure doors

Ace signals deuce who shakes his head, whatever was in there hadnt been alerted to their presence

Peering around through the opening Ace sucks in a sharp breath at the sight, its a cell, but shaped like some parody of a room and curled up on the bed is a human, or so they assume hes tall, very tall or perhaps the cot is too small

Theres not alot of light in the room other than an emergency source flickering shallowly overhead in upsetting dissonance and the other source, his chest glowing red orange through pale translucent skin

And well Ace is the captain for a reason, hes not about to put good men and women under his command at risk when he’s perfectly capable of handling the situation, hed rather have them as back up than be theirs

He unclasps and shrugs off his outer gear until he stands mostly unarmed in his undershirt and pants, Marco grips his wrist, eyes narrowed behind the visor of his regulation mask, Ace unbuckles his own too because whilst the atmosphere was classified as breathable the filters were the only thing keeping most of the rot and other molds at bay from entering their systems

Ace however doesnt have to worry much about inhaling toxic substances, his mother was a unique alienoid, from a species that attuned itself to plantlife alot easier than others, Ace never really told others because it didnt seem important, some mushrooms never anyone hurt much anyway, he does however keep the cloth mask on beneath the gear to keep the smells at bay

He signs to Marco and Deuce who look absolutely appalled, do they really think approaching this . Entity with full tactical gear would be a good idea Koala doesnt really say much, instead she backs up to find her preferred vantage point, high up and with good range of sight on the target

Smells like shit, decay mostly, Ace genuinely hasnt a single clue as to how hes going to approach this person but luck seems to be on his side, or lack thereof because the emergency light snips off, the power cutting and the glowing chested humanoid shifts at once, a long eerie sinuous twist to its body and Ace counts less than two seconds before he ends up on his back, in the rot in the blood winded with the creature poised over him, his features underlit by the glow from his chest (Ace assumes its a he)

He hurriedly holds up a fist though, he can just hear the snick of Marcos rifle unlatching and then silence, stand down

Gazes up into the face of the entity and from Deuce and Marco’s angle, theyd describe Ace’s expression from his eyes alone as as crushed, absolutely crumpled

They cant see what he does, its too dark and the angle hides the features

For Ace its a face he hasnt seen in a very long time time and hes stricken, motionless at the sight

Unable to react in time when the entity makes a hostile sound in its throat long spine arching in preparation to strike, Ace with the same hand that he used to signal his team to hold yanks on the cloth covering his face tugging it off haphazardly and whispers “Sabo”

The entity freezes up, if he had fur it would be standing all on end

Koala signals deuce and marco holding up both hands because she cannot believe what her eyes are trying to process, signs “does anyone have any clue what thenfuck is goingn on?”

Deuce hesitates hes not really filled in on Portgas D Ace’s life before he joined search rescue and rehab

But he does know Ace had a husband once, Marco knows what happened, because he must be what is inside that room right now

The Fiery Hand of Portgas D. Ace

I just watched a video of him and thought of him so I decided to calculate his hand size and fingers!

Some A/N below that you are free to skip, mostly announcing my love for Ace.

Ace is my fav of Luffy’s older brothers (I realised I have a thing for older brothers after Doflamingo, don’t @ me, I don’t know why, either, I’ve been clutching my head and having an existential crisis since realising it) and he was one of the first One Piece men I fell in love with.

I cried for HOURS when he died. I sobbed into my pillow the entire night. Despite knowing he would die in the Marineford Arc, I didn’t know in which ep or how so my face was full of shock like Luffy’s and nothing could have prepared me for the devastating emotional damage. I still hear Luffy’s sobs-slash-hysterical laughter-slash-screams and see his catatonic face. It haunts me.

Hell, I went numb from shock.

I took a full month long break from the anime after pushing through the rest of Marineford bcs I was THAT devastated. He was my fire boy. 🔥💔

I nearly quit watching One Piece because I thought I was far TOO MUCH devastated to continue. So you can assume how fckn hard it was to return for the Luffy Childhood Arc and see more of Ace knowing he was GONE. Like, Oda just wrenched that knife in, didn’t he? I hate him, but I respect him so much as a writer, too.
