the hijacking stressed these robots worst traits. block mans ego, fuse mans neurosises, blast mans anger, tundra mans vanity, torch mans temper, acid mans ambition, impact mans power, bounce mans naivety. that applies to EVERY robot ever hijacked under wilys control. make them worse and use it to his advantage. sorry “impact mans power” sucks but i just blanked on him😭
for the elevens as a whole, the incident effectively gave them all the robot equivalent of robot ptsd (maybe even cptsd in one or two cases, not really sure, just seeing what sticks rn). the recovery and coping differs robot to robot, though dr. light had a hand in all of their recovery efforts, maybe almost like a group therapy type deal. for some it was easier; tundra man, for example, had dr. cossack and his robots who had gone through such a similar thing to relate to and heal with. on the other hand, robots like bounce man and torch man, with jobs requiring them around children, i feel were scared of themselves afterwards. how can a robot that just raised hell be trusted around some of societys most vulnerable members? im not even gonna lie though i do think acid man maybe enjoyed getting hijacked a little too much.
on blast man and fuse man, they had met beforehand and began getting involved with one another before the Eleventh Incident. i want to say theyve been together around a year before the hijacking took place. the first year together i always pictured as a bit rocky, with blast man being Blast Man and fuse man trying to navigate something so foreign to him, but maybe by the time of the incident, it had been mostly smoothed out. the incident most definitely had impacted their dynamic at the time. fear of themselves, a sickening fear of one another, and a fear of every possible ‘what if?’. even with all of that, they understood they had something safe in one another.
fuse mans biggest problem following the incident was he just did get worse. he just did feel even worse about himself and the world and his situation, he just did have horrible episodes and relapses. in my MM, mental illness in robots is so scarcely documented, theres just not much of anything they could do for him besides hope he snaps out of it. i do think the other robots at the plant tried their best to help him, with what little they could do. shit that makes for good fuse/elec stuff i love their dynamic.
^partially related ive. never considered the eleventh incident could be a reason for why fuse attempted suicide at one point. Huh !
blast man was more upset it happened to him to begin with, and it just left him more confused and angry, and he, historically, has never had any good outlets for his emotions. blast man lashes out, teeth bared, and he will NEVER apologize for what he says in the moment. that got directed at basically everyone around him. human coworkers, robot coworkers, random park attendees, dr. light, friends, and even fuse man. it was very nasty and he didnt know what to do.
directly after, the strain put on them was immense. they did not speak the first few days following the initial recovery. one was too busy coiling and crushing back into himself, and the other so, so angry with nowhere to direct that anger. inevitably they would have to talk again. blast sought fuse out, as fuse was too busy staying locked in his bedroom. it would be similarly rocky and tense to when they first met, but worse, considering everything. blast was smart enough to know he needed some comfort, though. maybe they didnt say anything and just laid together. im not sure.
later on, perhaps just a week or two after the incident, dr. light would have much more frequent maintenance days for the elevens. the uptick in maintenance continued for almost two years, until light was sure the robots would be fine. it was genuine maintenance, but also, he had his own robots and children spend time with the elevens. it was good for the lot of them to have robots that could relate to them, and the socialization helped them too. maybe this was group therapy of a sorts. the elevens could not have returned to normalcy so soon if it werent for dr. light and his lot.
the recovery for the elevens as a whole brought them much closer together, much more than just happening to be a group of robots with the same maintenance schedules. i wouldnt say anything like a family, but more a cohesive unit, a proper comradery among them rather than acquaintances. for blast and fuse specifically, recovering together really brought them closer. in a way, it solidified their relationship even more. even in the event of a hijacking, they still can have one another to go to, and always will.
and today, theyre all doing good. theyre a bunch of happy robots despite it all!!
