I was looking through my quora emails and found someone raving about zhaliang 炸两 and now I want some...

It’s basically a youtiao 油条 but better because it has a layer of cheung fun 肠粉 around it. I’ve had it with congee or soy sauce before but I think there are other sauces that people eat it with.

I’m hungry now but unfortunately I can’t get 炸两 so I’ll have 粽子 instead (:

I’m watching random crash course history videos about china except john can’t pronounce chinese stuff. it’s not even just an accent, some stuff is so wildly off I wouldn’t have known what it was without subtitles. I mean, I don’t blame him, since he doesn’t speak chinese (I assume? hearing his pronunciation, I hope he doesn’t), but every time I hear something super super off, I have to pause and stare at him in disappointment for a little bit

john is great at teaching history and I love his videos but... yeah

I don’t know any other languages but I assume he screws up other stuff as well?

my friend’s girlfriend broke up with him but is still acting really close to him, same as when they were together. he’s been letting her do it because I think he’s kind of emotionally dead inside and is super confused. I feel like it’s kind of selfish of her? I’m pretty sure she only broke up with him so that she could interact with other guys without any strings attached (tho this is an assumption since I only know a bit from him and his other friend)

I can’t even observe them since we’re not in the same country but I feel like I should try to help him?? ahh idk

I’m wondering, since there are tons of angst heavy danmeis, how do other novels compare? I’ve heard many people say that a little life is the most depressing book they’ve ever read, but I can’t find anyone who has also read danmei. I know I can handle erha tgcf level stuff but I’m wondering if I can read a little life.

if you’ve read both a little life and some of the more depressing danmeis, could you compare the two a bit?

anyways I also wanted to share, the thing that sparked this was: what if a girl met two guys and it wasn’t a love triangle and she becomes close friends with one and the other is her love interest but the one she’s friends with isn’t gay

a guy and a girl can become close friends with neither of them being gay so why do I feel like I rarely see it

uhh no one misinterpret this as me being homophobic pls (I hope no one would but idk I’ve seen people get worked up over small things before), my other wip idea is a fantasy romance with two women (I really like the story idea for that one but ofc I’m never going to write it because procrastination and school) it’s just that this is a relationship dynamic that I never really see so I got excited

but now I really need to go work on the previously mentioned three homework assignments so farewell

I just finished watching bloom into you (:

hmm I think I’d enjoy it more if I read the manga too, since I don’t think the anime covered everything. it sounds like the anime was quite faithful, just unfinished, which made the ending feel too open and like it was missing an actual ending

overall I quite liked the plot and all the characters + the relationship dynamics. it definitely didn’t feel cliche or typical (or at least to me?), so that was pretty good. I haven’t watched many animes before and the ones I have watched were either not romance (or only background romance) or bl so it was nice trying a gl for once. even for books I haven’t read much gl... anyways I am definitely not disappointed with bloom into you (:

also, I watched the last two episodes to procrastinate my history essay that’s due in less than 6 hours so now I have to go do that
